This race looks set to be dominated by AIR SQUADRON and What Happens Now based on all known form. The former gets the nod because the step up to 3m is likely to suit, given that he was a strong stayer on the Flat, and he has shown improvement with every start over timber. Also, the 7lb that What Happens Now has to give the selection leaves the recent Cartmel winner vulnerable. The rest do not inspire much confidence at all but Instingtive is the pick of them.

MUWALLA has been in great form in recent weeks, with a win and three second places in the month of July, and he will be hard to beat today as long as those exertions have not left a mark. Welcome Ben is another in-form participant who warrants the utmost respect following back-to-back victories, the last of which was over this C&D and a 4lb rise in the ratings is fair. Others to note are Argentix and Martiloo.

Katgary was very disappointing when last seen at Stratford in June but his form prior to that, over fences, would give him a big chance this afternoon. DEAR SIRE faced a tough task when last seen in handicap company, finishing fifth in a really competitive event at Aintree three starts ago, but his subsequent performances in novice races suggest that he should go well today. Mirsaale won twice over C&D last year and he twice made the frame in Graded events after that.

RED SPINNER was unlucky to find one too good when last seen at Chepstow 107 days ago, finishing well clear of the remainder, but has been found an excellent chance here by Kim Bailey, who is looking to continue his excellent record at this venue (4-8 since 2012 at the time of writing). Jennie Candlish's Theflyingportrait has crucial past winning course form and has been kept on the go throughout the summer, while Tangolan is another who merits respect despite a fall last time.

THORPE took advantage of his low mark to score here last month and he might be worth following to go in again after claiming that confidence-boosting success. A 6lb rise looks fair and the seven-year-old has been found a nice opening to score again. Ronaldinho is expected to be thereabouts once more for Dianne Sayer and Pikarnia is also likely to go well for Rebecca Menzies, while Border Breaker could put his valuable course form to good use.

SOLWAY PRINCE was most impressive when winning over C&D just over a fortnight ago and a 7lb rise in the weights might not be enough to halt him if he arrives in the same mood. Sendiym is more than capable on his day and is a player if over his latest mishap, while See Double You has been knocking on the door and wouldn't be winning out of turn. Swingbridge is another to take seriously.

STRONG TEAM has been found a real opening against these rivals and might not need to improve on what he's shown in three starts thus far to land the spoils. Seemingly improving between runs, the four-year-old ran well for third here last month following a very creditable fourth-placed effort at Sedgefield in May. Rubbing Shoulders left a moderate Downpatrick performance behind when finishing runner-up here latest and she's noted along with Handy Hollow.
