CASTLELAWN has impressively notched up a double at Hexham recently (winning by a combined total of 20 lengths) and, although a further 12lb rise is sure to make life a lot tougher, he is fancied to strike again whilst the iron is hot. Groomed rates the biggest threat on his chasing return following a promising silver medal finish over hurdles at Ffos Las, while course and distance scorer The Paddy Premium could go well at bigger odds.

It's difficult to look past Irish raider BAYAN. With a top-rating of 126, he is very well treated at these weights and judged on Flat performances last year, the forecast quick ground today will be right up his street. Potomac comes out second best on official figures but was disappointing at Aintree last time, so Trend Is My Friend rates the bigger threat representing a Donald McCain stable that rarely leaves a Perth meeting without a winner.

Handicap debutant DUNEEN POINT shades the verdict in a tightly-knit handicap. He made a promising start to his chasing career when runner-up in a beginners' event at Uttoxeter 38 days ago (third has won since) and an opening mark of 104 today looks fairly lenient. Attycran has been knocking on the door and should reach the frame once again, while course and distance scorer Shooting Times is certainly no forlorn hope if putting his best foot forward.

Everything points to a massive run from SOLIS. The 10-year-old is arriving at the top of his game, boasts winning course form and will love the forecast lightening quick ground. A 9lb rise for dotting up in a 3m hurdle contest at Hexham last time may not be enough to anchor him. In terms of dangers, Gordon Elliott's Irish raider Rathmoyle House tops the list ahead of another Hexham scorer in Cruachan and the 111-rated Call Box.

Via Archimede collected bronze medals in both starts last month and should give another good account, while chances are also given to Fesity Lass, representing the stable that won this contest in 2011, and seasonal debutant Ruttan Lake. The vote, however, goes to TALK OF SAAFEND. A placed effort on the Flat at Hamilton last Thursday shows that the eight-year-old is arriving here in decent form and she is currently 1lb lower than her latest hurdles victory.

Peter Bowen saddled the winner of this contest in 2011 and he appears to have another cracking chance with QUEL BALLISTIC this time around. Formerly with John Wade, the Kayf Tara gelding has been rejuvenated by a switch in stables judged on recent victories at Fontwell and Worcester and, despite rising 13lb in total, a step up in class leaves him handily weighted today. Dual course winner Wild Geese is put forward as his biggest danger, ahead of Russian War.

A competitive handicap to round things off. Lisbon makes plenty of appeal on his handicap return following a comfortable Cartmel maiden success, while Outrageous Request should figure prominently if anywhere near peak fitness on his seasonal bow. The one who is most fancied, though, is Diane Sayer's COOL BARANCA. Although flopping at this track last time, she does like it here (won twice) and remains very well treated on her best form.
