Bouggietopieces is expected to be a popular choice of the punters given his connections and is a player judged on his second-placed effort here in July. Slight preference is for STROBE, though, as the C&D winner displayed his battling qualities to deny According To Sarah at Bangor last month and that narrow success at the Welsh venue will have given him a lot of confidence. Roc De Prince completes the shortlist.

BOUGGIETOPIECES bounced back from a couple of lesser efforts when fourth over hurdles recently and must go close if he can reproduce the form he showed when runner-up here back in July. BENNACHIE had been in great form prior to his Stratford mishap in July and if he's none the worse for that fall at the Midlands venue, he can pick up from where he left off at Southwell in May. Bidding to complete a hat-trick that day following two impressive wins both at Warwick and the Nottinghamshire track, Tim Vaughan's charge ran well for the silver medal under a 7lb penalty and is open to stacks more improvement. Of the others, Cartmel winner Johnny Go and Drifter can have their say.

IT'S ALL AN ACT jumped violently right when going left handed at Newton Abbot last month and paid the price when coming to grief at the second fence. Not without his supporters that day, though, the Irish raider could be worth another look now going right handed and supporters will be pleased to see Richard Johnson keep the ride. Robin's Command will be sharper for his third-placed effort here over timber and is noted along with Muwalla.

KOUP DE KANON shaped as if retaining much of the ability he displayed over hurdles when sent chasing after a long absence at Uttoxeter, and could do a lot better on the back of that now handicapping. It's All An Act and the returning Muwalla are also considered.

Look no further than OFFICER SYDNEY. Gordon Elliott's charge is forced to carry a penalty for winning at Roscommon three weeks ago and in turn concedes weight all round, but the son of Lawman was most impressive on his first start for the Irish handler since joining from Brian Meehan and if building on that winning hurdles bow he should take some stopping here. Pariyan struggled to land a telling blow in three starts on the Flat in France but cannot be completely ruled out on his hurdling debut, but Sunny Purchase and Bernhard can be.

Watch out for: Pariyan (3)

OFFICER SYDNEY had two of these well behind him at Roscommon last month and looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to win again unless the Donald McCain-trained French import Pariyan turns out to be an above-average recruit to hurdling.

SOLWAY LEGEND can be forgiven one mediocre effort at Cartmel returning to the scene of his first career success in May. The C&D winner was successful at Hexham over a similar trip in June and off just a 6lb higher mark, the handicapper might not have his measure yet. Court Of Law ran well for the bronze medal at Stratford last time out and is a player if reproducing that level of form, while Solway Sam knows his way around here and is another for the shortlist.
