Last Pioneer has evidently been difficult to train but he has come good of late in no uncertain terms. Two quick wins at Cartmel recently makes him a leading contender here with just the one penalty. MIDDLETON DENE is lightly raced and is going the right way; it was his first run for a while when second last month and that should have put him spot on. Baileys Encore was gaining his first placing over hurdles when second last time and the way he travelled through his race on that occasion would suggest that this drop in distance is a good move.

Lofty Leader and Shares were first and second respectively over C&D last month but on today's revised terms the nod just goes to the latter. THE WICKETKEEPER was lightly raced over hurdles and only showed a modicum of promise. Those efforts meant he was on a good mark when winning on his first start over fences at Towcester last time. He could be named the winner a long way from home that day and can defy a 12lb hike in the weights. No Greater Love got it right last time at Huntingdon after being slightly unlucky on his previous start and he is another who merit's serious consideration.

Tuscany Rose ran her best race to date over hurdles when a close third at Cartmel 13 days ago. That was only a seller but this is not much better and she has her chances. MISSGOODYTWOSHOES showed enough last summer to suggest she can win a race of this nature. She is versatile regards ground and the long absence should not be an issue, especially not if the market speaks in her favour. Compton Eclipse was far from disgraced at Down Royal last time and is another to consider.

This looks a cracker with the gallant Ballycassidy heading the weights. He stayed on well to win last time but again finds himself fighting with the handicapper here. Tamarinbleu is preferred of the David Pipe duo and he ran well reverting to hurdles last time at Haydock. He had previously run with credit at Aintree and he should give a good account. MATT THE THRASHER has a progressive profile and he might not have stopped improving yet. The turn around in his fortunes seems to be the exaggerated waiting tactics that are employed and once again he has the excellent Paul Moloney on board.

Freeloader ran quite well on the level last time but would ppear to be on a stiff mark over hurdles. He could well earn some money. MAJORCA ran well behind two progressive horses last time at Cartmel and might have finished even closer if not for a mistake two from home. He looks solid at this level and should not be far away. Both Ballyhurry and Abstract Folly ran well last time and they make most appeal of the remainder.

Things have not really progressed for GENGHIS since his Scottish Champion Hurdle win over two years ago and it was his first win over fences when successful at Hereford last weekend. However, that was not a bad race of its type and he could easily go forward again now with that win under his belt. French import Ormello shaped quite well on his debut here last month, while Commercial Express ran a solid race last time and could make the frame.

Mr Woods shaped with a degree of promise in three bumper runs (especially his second effort) and should go well here if handling the livelier going. Mr Multifix was not disgraced at Down Royal on his debut and would not need to find an awful lot on that to go close here. POLITICAL PADDY ran a similar race on his debut over C&D and he could well have benefited the most for that initial experience. He gets the nod here.
