RYALEX kept on at the one pace on the run in when second over 2m2f at Kelso latest and is expected to improve on that effort and go one better now granted this additional furlong. Blessed King attracted support for a similar contest at Ballinrobe last month but could manage no better than fourth. It would be a surprise if there wasn't more to come from him, while bumper winner Sammy B is also respected now moving over obstacles.

SEVEN DEVILS finished fourth in a 0-120 novices' contest over C&D last month and is expected to build on that performance following a 2lb drop, which enables him to ease into 0-100 company this afternoon. Asuncion has dropped 1lb lower than when scoring at Newcastle in March and is considered the main danger ahead of Celestino, who landed minor money over hurdles here last month and is having only his fourth start over fences.

HARLEYS MAX returned to form when second over the extended 2m5f at Kelso last month and is expected to remain competitive after a 4lb rise. Amilliontimes has dropped to a workable mark and should be thereabouts if building on his Wetherby second earlier in the month, though Whatsthestoryman is 1lb lower than when placed over 2m4f at Hexham last month and is the one expected to put up most resistance.

Many of these are yet to get off the mark over the jumps, but the manner of GOLAN SUN'S first attempt in the UK last time was admirable and perhaps the eight-year-old can improve on that excellent second at Uttoxeter last month. The booking of Richard Johnson suggests that a 6lb rise for that performance is of little concern, and he can get the better of the consistent Toarmandowithlove. Tomahawk Wood won a poor race last time to break his duck, but it was a weak race and a 10lb rise for that win looks rather harsh.

Chanceofa Lifetime won the hunter chase on this card 12 months ago and cannot be overlooked, while chances are also given to Mo Rouge and course scorer Mister First. FIDDLERS REEL, boasting winner C&D form, edges the verdict, though, as the veteran chaser ran a creditable second at Kelso off 1lb lower last month, confirming his Haydock success was no fluke, and both Scotswell (fourth) and Chicago Outfit (pulled-up) have since offered the form a boost.

MISTER MARKER would be no surprise winner following his latest third-placed effort at Kelso under Rules and second-placed finish more recently between the flags. Nicky Richards' charge was making his hunter chase debut when the recipient of a bronze medal at Kelso in February and is the class horse in the race boasting a rating of 119. Royal Chatelier finished second in this race 12 months ago and is feared most, while Railway Dillon is another to take seriously.

MARAWEH is the sole C&D winner in the field having won here in good style last September and the drop back to this trip, over which he was successful at Musselburgh twice at the back end of last year, may prompt a return to winning ways. Also dropping into a class four handicap having been eased 3lb for his latest course reverse, the six-year-old ticks plenty of boxes and gets the vote ahead of Ballinvegga and Destiny Awaits.
