Father Edward managed to end a run of frustrating defeats with a comfortable success at Worcester and is a leading player with his confidence buoyed. There is a strong chance that he didn't meet a rival of SHARP RISE's calibre when getting his head in front, though, and Pauline Robson's eight-year-old is backed to return to winning ways after unseating his rider in a chase at Cartmel. Solway Dandy has plenty of C&D form under his belt and looks the pick of the rest.

Gordon Elliott boasts a 36% strike-rate at this track this season and it hasn't been that long since LE GRAND CHENE was winning over fences at Downpatrick in May. He shades the vote over What A Steel, who seemed revitalised by cheekpieces at Hexham but might be vulnerable from 8lb higher at this stage in his career. Ballygrooby Bertie is worth market inspection on his first start for new connections, and Los Nadis hasn't been far away the last twice so should be respected.

BOUGGIETOPIECES looked a shade one-paced when reeled in at this circuit but can go one better now granted a stiffer test of stamina. St Maxime is feared most after she overcame a final-flight blunder to score over C&D. A 9lb rise will make life tougher but perhaps the reapplication of blinkers has eked out some improvement from her. Wind Of Hope showed promise between the flags so he can make more of an impact now tackling the bigger obstacles.

GALIZZI surrendered a gilt-edged opportunity when fluffing the last at Hexham but deserves another chance if a tongue-tie brings improvement. Sindarban also threw away his chance of winning with a final-flight mistake at Worcester and can do better if brushing up in the jumping department. Iffjack represents a yard that has to be respected at this track, and point-to-point winner Chaz Michaels deserves market inspection on his debut under Rules.

16:10 Perth (Class 3) (4YO plus)

Last-time-out C&D winner RUSSIAN REGENT could hardly have won any easier when scoring by 22 lengths and is backed to defy a hefty 12lb hike. His main danger looks to be Thinger Licht, who has gone from strength to strength since joining Dan Skelton and arrives fresh from a confidence-boosting success over hurdles at Market Rasen. Bunclody steps up in trip after making all at this venue and an 8lb rise leaves him some room for manoeuvre when his old form is taken into account.

BARABOY couldn't quite reel in a runaway winner when bidding for a hurdling four-timer at Cartmel but is well worth another try here. Separate Shadows is feared most after some sold efforts in defeat but will probably need to settle more effectively if he is to end a long losing run. The returning Claude Carter has slipped down the weights slightly and deserves more than a cursory market check, and Beidh Tine Anseo was a winner over fences at Kelso in May and probably shouldn't be judged on his latest effort.

Amirr opened his account at Stratford but it wasn't as comfortable as his price suggested it would be. He may have needed that outing and can do better now he knows his task but perhaps it is worth taking him on with CARINENA, who has a nice pedigree - she is a half-sister to the smart Eduard - and showed definite promise when third at this track. Paddy's Yarn is worth a market check on his return, and Bellas Rock cannot be discounted for leading connections.
