Petersham Place won his point-to-point at Oldtown by five lengths and the runner up has won since to frank the form and he is worthy of a market watch. Ar Ais Aris was beaten two lengths in a point-to-point and the same distance when fourth in a bumper here and he may be the biggest rival to EASTERN FIRE. Dan Skelton's gelding won his bumper at Fakenham in January and looks the sort to be suited by this trip and more over hurdles.
AR AIS ARIS brings plenty of potential to hurdles having shaped well in both a point and bumper. The bumper run came here, finishing fourth in the spring, and he should relish the longer trip now. Petersham Place is another to give a chance to having joined a good yard since winning a point in February, but a bigger danger might be Eastern Fire, who improved from start one to two when winning a Fakenham bumper in January.

Three of these are having their first run over fences with the exception of Jabbar, second at Downpatrick in August. Dream Shadow ended last season with a four-length Listed win at Haydock and in receipt of her 7lb sex allowance she could prove the biggest danger to KABRAL DU MATHAN. A class act over hurdles rounding off last season with a fourth in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham when travelling ominously well before the petrol ran out in the closing stages, his chasing debut is eagerly anticipated.
With a clear round this should go to KABRAL DU MATHAN, the Grade 2-winning hurdler who travelled like the best horse en route to getting outstayed in the Stayers' Hurdle. He's got plenty of speed and won't have an issue with the drop to 2m, indeed over fences he could develop into a leading Arkle candidate. Hold The Serve is a promising sort too but almost certainly wants further, so perhaps the mare Dream Shadow, a Listed winner when last seen at Haydock in April, can emerge as a bigger threat.

With Sean Bowen booked to ride, the assumption is that Old Habits is the better of the two Olly Murphy runners and with a Southwell bumper win and an Ayr second he has to be considered. GET OUT OF MY WAY finished a nine-length second in a Listed bumper at Newbury on his second start in February and is related to plenty of winning hurdlers, making him the one to beat. Irish raider Sea Eagle and point-to-point second Nikolavs Otto are others to take seriously.
Nikolavs Otto shaped promisingly on his sole start in a point-to-point and he's joined a top yard ahead of this rules debut, but OLD HABITS, another who came from points, has already shown a fair level in bumpers, winning at Southwell in December and then returning from five months off with a good second under a penalty in April. He's going to want further than 2m before long but could be good enough to take this anyway. Irish runner Sea Eagle holds form claims also and is another to consider.

Golden Point failed to run his race before pulling up at Uttoxeter in March but he had won his previous two at Kelso and is not one to write off just yet. Major Fortune travels north as part of a strong Skelton team with a win over further at Haydock last time out but he has 5lb more from the handicapper and the younger CHASINGOUTTHEBLUES is preferred. Mark Walford's gelding was not disgraced when fifth in the Scottish National and looks all set for a rewarding season.
Thunder Rock isn't the performer of old but he did well in hunter chases last season and is on a fair mark for this return to handicaps. There might be more progressive options, though, with I WISH YOU taken to make a winning return for his in-form yard. Fitness is to be taken on trust, but he retains plenty of potential. Fingers were burned when TAP TAP SHAMIE failed to justify cramped odds at Carlisle, but Olly Murphy's gelding made no mistake when an authoritative winner at Hexham next time. He enters handicaps on the back of a five-month absence and is expected to prove better than a mark of 120, not least at this level. She's Notjoeking was holding her form well when last in action and enters calculations alongside both Linalene and Matching Energy.
This can go to handicap newcomer TAP TAP SHAMIE, a former point winner who got off the mark with ease at the third attempt over hurdles at Hexham in May. He's got lots of potential and should prove miles better than his opening mark of 120. Success looked unlikely for ORDEROFTHEDAY at Uttoxeter, but Sean Bowen was able to galvanise the Order Of St George gelding and he got up in the nick of time. He'll likely need a bit more on the back of a break, but many of these make their seasonal returns too and this is only his second start over the larger obstacles. The race-fit Tanking Along struck at Sedgefield recently and is respected as a result, while others to note include Heads Or Harps and Minella Marathon.
Tanking Along is a likeable sort with fitness on his side and he remains competitively weighted, but the likes of ORDEROFTHEDAY and Moyganny Phil, both from the Olly Murphy yard, might have too much potential. The selection needed all of this trip to make a winning debut over fences at Uttoxeter in May and there's no doubt he'll want stepping back up in trip before long, but he could still prove good enough off what is a nice mark. Moyganny Phil is lightly raced and should make a nice chaser, while Minella Marathon, for the Skeltons, needs respecting having won a point. He's undergone a wind op since his last outing.

Kado Sacree notched up a brace of hurdling victories when last seen and is of serious interest now tried over fences, but it might be worth taking a chance on COSSACK CHACH. A winner over the larger obstacles when trained in Ireland, he then had a brief spell with Jimmy Moffatt before shaping with promise on his debut for Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore. Stepping up half a mile in trip should suit, and this is easier than his last assignment. Rock Dj is another to consider.
He's taking on some more experienced types, but KADO SACREE has plenty of potential for fences and is taken to complete the hat-trick with his mark of 118 looking lenient potentially. It could be stablemate Berkenshtaaap who emerges as the biggest threat with him having got off the mark over hurdles at the course in April when last seen. He's a former point winner, so should take to this game. Follow Charlie, who has fitness on his side, is another chasing newcomer to consider.

Each of these four yards have been amongst the winners lately but none more so than Patrick Neville. Cockle Bay Wharf struggled on his racecourse bow last term though and is likely to need considerable improvement, whereas Saint De Gemix and Velvet Outlaw arrive from the pointing sphere and are complete unknowns under Rules. That too can be said of STILL GAME, though, who fetched 45,000 euros at the sales last June and is most appealing of the four that line up.
Still Game has to be of interest on debut for his top yard but it's VELVET OUTLAW who appeals most. He was in with every chance when falling at the last in a maiden point and has joined a good yard ahead of this rules debut. Saint De Gemix, runner-up in a point, brings plenty of potential to rules and is one to consider seriously also.
