JUST BEFORE DAWN is the clear pick in this event based upon his second-placed finish to an above-average rival at Kempton back in March. That was his first start since October 2014 and he should only improve for the outing. Killone outran odds of 100/1 to finish second at Hexham last month and he could pick up some place money again today, while Lorenzo and Whispering Affair are others to note.

Watch out for: Killone (3)

Hard to get away from JUST BEFORE DAWN who made a highly encouraging return from a long absence when second at Kempton in March and will surely go one better if turning up here in similar form. Killone looks the obvious one for the forecast spot, though the Stuart Crawford pair Whispering Affair and Lorenzo may yet have more to offer.

GET READY FREDDY has only been raised 3lb for his win at Taunton last month and that appears to be very fair given that the second and third fought out the finish of a handicap chase at Worcester last week. Welcome Ben is another who arrives here on the back of a victory and he is an obvious danger today. Fred Le Macon makes his chasing debut today from just 1lb above his last winning mark over hurdles.

THE PIERRE LARK isn't a solid proposition having finished weakly over hurdles at Uttoxeter last time, but he travelled well for a long way there and is a winning pointer, so there's reason to think he can benefit from the switch to chasing/weaker race than previously to gain his first success under Rules. A MONTMARTRE won with plenty in hand when successful at Taunton last month and a 6lb rise for that success may well underestimate the five-year-old mare. Bahrikate surprised a few when successful at 33/1 over C&D late last month and she will be in the mix today if in the same form. The shortlist is completed by Alizee De Janeiro, Gold Chain and Princess Mononoke.

Watch out for: Bahrikate (7)

Although she raced against very limited bunch at Taunton, A MONTMARTRE could do no more than win with any amount in hand, and given her Flat ability, she should remain very competitive in this sphere. Gold Chain often looks hard work and this drop to 2m is a worry, but she is capable if on a "going" day, with Alizee de Janeiro another to consider.

This is a very moderate event but the marginal preference is for MOLLIES GENT, who has been struggling for form of late but his last victory came at this track back in September from just 5lb lower in the ratings. Resolute Reformer has also won at this venue but he has not been seen since that victory in May of last year. Vesuvhill and Ryalex warrant each-way consideration.

Watch out for: Resolute Reformer (3)

RYALEX took a step forward over fences when third at Carlisle last time and will probably take a bit of stopping down if he can reproduce that form down in grade here. Mollies Gent hasn't been at his best of late but it's possible a return to the scene of his sole win could spark him back to life, while Crinkle Crags showed there's still some ability there last time and could also figure.

BROADWAY BELLE should appreciate a drop in distance after trying an extra three furlongs at Sedgefield last month when second in a decent contest and the booking of Will Kennedy once more (3-8 here in the last five years) is a major positive. Cuil Rogue was much improved here last time out and remains on a reasonable mark despite a 3lb rise, while Solway Trigger unseated his rider last time out but had been backed and could be one to watch in the market once more.

Watch out for: Cuil Rogue (2)

BHAKTI looked much more straightforward when making a winning return/yard debut under more positive tactics at Ffos Las last month, and provided his temperament can be kept in check, he may well have more to offer from this sort of mark. Final Fling's reappearance effort wasn't devoid of promise and he's considered given his low-mileage profile. Cuil Rogue and Rivabodiva can also make the frame.

JESTER JET arrives on a hat-trick after two impressive wins for Tom Lacey in recent months and there could be more to come from the seven-year-old on just her third start for this handler. A 3lb rise for her recent Ludlow success looks fair and should be suited by this easier surface. Late Date remains unexposed over this distance and won well here last month, while Jet Master is another with crucial past winning experience at this venue and needs to be taken seriously.
