Irish raiders hold a strong hand in this opener with Estepona Sun setting the form standard with a string of placed efforts in similar 2m events. For all that, KHANMURJAN's best efforts compare favourably and he gets the vote here on the basis that he was still travelling very strongly until taking a tumble three out in a competitive handicap on this course 13 days ago. Fergal O'Brien's recent French recruit Art Man is another to consider after an encouraging effort at Huntingdon last month, but Carran Cross continues to shape as though further would be appreciated.

Winning hurdler HANSANKEY made a fine start to his chasing career in a handicap at Cartmel last month, jumping soundly throughout to finish a clear second behind the progressive Tonto's Spirit. He's been raised 4lb for that but the fact that his Cartmel conqueror comfortably defied a 7lb penalty a few days later suggests that he is potentially well treated with previous fencing experience to draw on. Fourth Of July and Thisonesfordanielle also bring second-placed form to the table, while Schmidt has also worked himself back into form and his current mark looks even more workable.

The frustrating Balranald was a decent second at Bangor last time but there's no obvious reason why he should suddenly oblige at the 13th attempt over hurdles on his first start for Alison Hamilton, while recent Ffos Las third Billy The Squid has a similar profile and doesn't look entirely straightforward. Two-time previous winner Sword of Fire ran well behind the progressive Tonto's Spirit at Cartmel last time and should remain competitive but any value here may lie with WISE COCO, who tends to go well here and hinted at a return to form on ground softer than ideal after a break last time.

If coming out of Friday's scheduled engagement at Market Rasen OK, Ballyhome would have obvious claims, but he ran poorly on his only previous visit here and would be worth taking on with LICKLIGHTER, who looked better than ever when scoring impressively on his first attempt at this trip at Southwell last month. The handicapper whacked him up 9lb for that win but he's since confirmed his well-being by finishing a runner-up over hurdles and this race looks well within his range. Five-time course winner Amalfi Doug has been in the doldrums for a while but hinted at a revival here last time and could prove most troublesome.

The lightly-raced SMART GETAWAY was weak in the market when returning from a long absence at Market Rasen in April but ran a race full of encouragement to chase home stablemate Made For You. She's been given a decent amount of time to recover from those exertions and, based on the form she showed to win at Southwell two years ago, she looks well capable of winning off her present mark. Pammi's profile is more patchy but she went well over this C&D last time and won't be far away if building on that, while Listen To The Lady did enough at Kelso last time to suggest she's still in decent order despite being unable to match the form she showed to win there previously.

With both Sketrick and C&D winner Hitman Fred blotting their copybooks with sub-par efforts last time out, it's Millarville who enters this race in the best form having run better than ever when just coming off second best in a sustained duel with Mah Mate Bob at Cartmel last month. The worry is that the bruising encounter may have just taken an edge off her so it could pay to take her on with PAKIE'S DREAM, who had still to be asked a question when in the process of running well here last time. The gelding is well treated compared to his higher hurdles rating and trainer Jenny Candlish's good recent form also bodes well.

Grey Girly finally came good at the 13th attempt over hurdles here recently and a follow-up wouldn't appear out of the question despite a 3lb rise, given that she appeared to score a shade cosily. Darkest Day also has to enter the equation after beating everything bar the progressive Alqamar at Cartmel last time on his first start for William Young, while Ginstrelli would be a huge danger if able to reproduce the form he showed to win at Doncaster in March. For all that, any value here may lie with MY MACHO MAN, who looks feasibly treated for his handicap debut judged on an improved effort in novice company at Kelso last month when a close-up third behind Charcor.
