PETAPENKO ran with promise on his hurdles debut at Kelso back in the autumn over 2m when third to Big River. The step up to an extended 2m4f should bring about further improvement from the son of Archipenko and the booking of Paddy Brennan also looks significant. Wicked Willy ran respectably on his hurdling debut behind the promising Beggars Cross at Warwick and looks the main threat to the selection, while Berkshire Downs could benefit from both the step up in distance and the return to a sounder surface.

PRESENTING ROSE was too keen on her first attempt at 2m5f in handicap company when runner-up to W Six Times at Ayr, but a return to better ground could bring about the required improvement. Song Saa is unbeaten in two starts over hurdles and a mark of 112 looks fair on handicap debut here, while Dubh Eile looks best of the rest on her most recent outing at Warwick.

A small but decent turn out including two from the yard of Willie Mullins, with the Closutton master pulling out all the stops to claim his first UK Trainers' Championship. He saddles Up For Review, who looked one of the leading staying novice hurdlers before a below-par effort at Doncaster in the River Don behind Barters Hill and pulling up after racing too free in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham, and Nambour who has Graded form having finished runner-up to Acapella Bourgeois the last twice they have met. Preference, though, is for Albert Bartlett runner-up FAGAN who was arguably given too much to do when flying up the hill behind Unowhatimeanharry. The son of Fair Mix proved himself to handle all types of ground on that occasion which is a question mark that hangs over both Mullins' representatives, most notably Up For Review. Barney Dwan represents the EBF Final form which has worked out extremely well so far and he should improve for the step up to 3m on decent ground.

NO DUFFER won nicely in a competitive handicap chase last time at Haydock and an 8lb higher mark here shouldn't stop the son of Karinga Bay from doubling up in a weaker race. Topper Thornton deserves respect with champion jockey elect Richard Johnson booked to ride and he should appreciate the drop back to 3m after not appearing to fully see out 3m4f in the Ulster National at Downpatrick, while Jennys Surprise has proven to be one of the stories of the National Hunt season thanks to her association with Brodie Hampson back at Sandown in February and the hugely likeable mare can go well here.

ROLLING THUNDER has been running well recently, including when second at Sedgefield last month, and the step up in distance should bring about further improvement from the son of Cloudings on his handicap debut. Frontier Vic produced another decent effort when third behind a potentially well treated horse in Highway Storm at Ffos Las and holds solid claims with Zac Baker's 3lb claim a positive. Solway Sam could appreciate the return to the smaller obstacles off a 4lb lower mark than when last seen over hurdles in January.

LOWANBEHOLD has improved plenty since going chasing last month and can complete the hat-trick here as he steps up a mile in trip from his last effort at Kelso. Chasing newcomer Ballyboker Breeze has some fair form to his name over hurdles and could potentially improve now switched to larger obstacles. Present Flight ran well last month at Kelso and should benefit from the return to a right-handed track.

BANYU has some fair novice hurdle form to his name, including finishing second behind both Bloody Mary and All Set To Go at Taunton, and could potentially be fairly handicapped off a mark of 124. King Muro has remained in decent form through the winter and should benefit from Philip Donovan's 7lb claim, while Top Of The Glas returns to hurdling after a spell on the Flat and has place claims on the pick of his juvenile form.
