Whispering Death represents powerful connections and despite what appeared at the time a rather disappointing effort at Ascot when a distant third, the two in front that day have since won and the form now looks quite strong. However, BALTHAZAR KING gave signs at Kempton that he was approaching the level which saw him score in November and he can land his second success at the expense of Prince De Beury. The latter has yet to win but his trainer has a cracking record of his horses running big races when fresh.

Presenting Forever is an unknown quantity after just three races but Mr Woods, who was highly tried last time, is now dropped in grade and may figure. Caught only in the shadow of the post at Newcastle, Kinfayre Boy has been knocking on the door and deserves a win soon but he is just overlooked in favour of LE VERT GALANT who last year ran some solid races without getting his head in front. But his seasonal return at Uttoxeter, when second, showed that his turn was not far away.

If Silver By Nature gets it right, he will prove a danger to all but Lodge Lane, after winning his chasing debut at Exeter, has failed to finish in three from five starts since. Pop`s climb up the ladder makes very interesting reading as Henry Daly`s gelding goes from strength to strength and he must be a live contender here. However, once a smashing hurdler, the Nicky Henderson-trained THE MARKET MAN was absent from the racecourse for a long period but, if putting a line through his run at the Festival, has returned a solid chaser and gets the narrow vote.

Fujin Dancer got it right at the fifth attempt and a repeat of that Southwell run will see him involved here and Marcel can still make his presence felt. Toshi alternates with running on the Flat, but won at Mussleburgh and a similar effort will see him right there. This may come down to a duel between Weather Front who should improve on his Ludlow run and BENETWOOD. The latter is probably a better horse over fences rather than timber and his four career wins have come under the champion jockey. With AP again on board he will not be far away.

Native Coral bit off more than he could chew last time but has claims along with Jack The Blaster who has done well since sent chasing. Rimsky is a solid enough yardstick as is Or De Grugy but they will do well to beat the Sue Smith-trained STAGECOACH AMBER. A once average performer, the 7-y-o has become a different animal since allowed to make all and, here again, he can make every post a winning one as the handicapper struggles to get to grips with him in his present mood.

Four runs and four places over hurdles and with such consistency Casual Affair`s turn must be coming soon but here he faces some unknown quantities. The French import QUINCY DES PICTONS, now trained by Ferdy Murphy, made a pleasing UK debut when second at Sedgefield and he's expected to come on and take an open contest here. Oconnells Pike presents a major threat to the selection as doesl Melteme if he jumps better.

Ramvaswani arrives here looking to go one better than his second at Towcester but may have it all to do against the David Pipe-trained SOLWAY SUNSET, who has won two from his last three and must be seriously considered. Quillygham was a shade unlucky not to have followed up his Taunton win when hampered and, of the rest, perhaps Kirkside Pleasure comes out best in a race where only a few can be given a realistic chance.
