Classy flat recruit DIVINE GIFT is taken to make a successful hurdling debut. A winner from a mark of 92 at Chester in May, a clear round would see him hard to beat this afternoon. Ballyhurry opened his account in a modest maiden over C&D last time, but will find it difficult conceding weight to the selection. German flat winner Beriga has been off the course for some time, but cannot be left out of calculations.

It is hard to gauge how much ability hurdler Petrula retains after running down the field over timber here last month, but the signs are that a big run can be expected on his chasing bow. However, Irish raider and dual C&D winner over the smaller obstacles ARRESTING could be too sharp for Kevin Ryan's charge on this occasion. Royal Glen has also won around here, but looks third-best today.

Although not as good as he once was, FIORI is a tentative selection in this modest grade. He won a chase from a much higher mark last April and it could pay to take a chance with him today. Candarli won a handicap at Huntingdon in February and was far from disgraced on his return at Market Rasen a fortnight ago. Andre Chenier is no slouch and has to be respected.

A previous C&D winner over fences, JALLASTEP looks reasonably well treated after a confidence-boosting win over hurdles here three weeks ago. Manoram was a creditable second to Sharaab last time and is unlikely to be making the trip from Worcestershire for the scenery alone. Chevalier Errant was better than these at his peak and cannot be dismissed with any confidence.

OASIS BANUS has shown only limited ability so far and was a big disappointment on his final start for Martin Pipe last November. Now with Peter Monteith, he is likely to do better this time considering the owner has yet to lose faith in him. Optimistic Harry returned from injury to win well at Cartmel in May and won't be inconvenienced by the step up in trip, while Sono is not without a chance of building on his recent second over this C&D.

Lutea was awarded a modest beginners' chase at Cartmel after meeting interference in the closing stages and should figure in the finish. Fly Tipper chased home easy winner It's A Roofer in a C&D maiden last time and could go well from the bottom of the handicap. PRINCE AMONG MEN won a seller on his penultimate start and gets the vote after a decent effort over 2m1f at Sedgefield in this grade last time.
