MOONDAY SUN has continued to improve over hurdles and won very well on handicap debut at Worcester. A 6lb rise in the weights seems very fair for Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge and he should take a fair amount of beating again. Carinena won a competitive handicap last time over C&D and also shouldn't be inconvenienced by another 6lb on his back, while Buonarotti Boy has to be respected on his recent course effort.

BRIGHT PROSPECT got back to winning ways last time over C&D when winning easily by 17 lengths and could well build on that performance despite a 12lb hike. Foxtail Hill proved disappointing on his two chase starts last year but is fairly handicapped if his jumping is sorted out, while Whats Up Woody will have appreciated a confidence booster last time when winning a non-event here over 3m.

An unusual clash for this time of the season with the previous two Champion Bumper winners from the Cheltenham Festival meeting on their hurdling debuts. Preference goes to 2015 winner MOON RACER, who returned from over a year off the track to finish an excellent second behind a top class individual in Blow By Blow in the Punchestown equivalent back in April and also looks advantaged by the fact his main market rival, Ballyandy, looks to want further than the minimum 2m on the evidence of his bumper performances. Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge looks the clear danger having achieved a high level of form in his bumpers, with Wakea looking best of the remainder having won his first race officially over hurdles at Clonmel last time.

GREEN ZONE is holding his form well at the moment and is a dual C&D winner to boot. The son of Bushranger is two wins from his last three starts (all over track and trip) and is only 4lb higher for winning by a ready length and a quarter here at the beginning of the month. Crown Hill is a model of consistency and must enter calculations, while Hexham scorer Fred Le Macon lines up off an unchanged mark having won a conditional jockeys' handicap and he is another to consider.

This has been a good race for favourites in the last six years with four short priced contenders obliging with relative ease. FLYING ANGEL showed signs of promise last season with his highlight a second in the Martin Pipe at the Cheltenham Festival. He looks made for this sphere and it would be a minor surprise if he couldn't make a winning debut over the larger obstacles. Impulsive American has been in great form over the last few months and the versatile gelding should continue to go well, while Rejaah receives a valuable fillies allowance and must be respected for the long-travelling Nigel Hawke.

A new season provides WHAT A MOMENT with an opportunity to fulfill his undoubted potential and David Pipe looks to have found the son of Milan an excellent chance to claim a second career triumph. His efforts during the winter were disappointing and connections will be hopeful that their charge can go well fresh and claim a modest renewal. Lucinda Russell and Gordon Elliott have a combined five wins from the last 10 renewals so Misfits and Lilywhite Gesture have to be respected, while the consistent Round Tower completes the list of likely contenders despite giving away weight to the field.

Nigel Twiston-Davies has landed this event twice in the last six years and he looks to have another contender primed to make a winning debut in this sphere in the shape of WOODFORT. The form of his point-to-point run in Ireland looks to be nothing special but it would be no surprise if the four-year-old had strengthened and improved now in the care of a trainer who knows how to prime horses for their first outing in bumpers. War Creation looks likely to be well supported for a team that does well here, while Lost Frequency looks to be the pick of the Lucinda Russell pair.
