A chance is taken on IT'S GOOD TO LAUGH, who makes his debut over hurdles in this contest. The four-year-old was last seen recording a comfortable success on the Flat at Chester and he could be the class act if being able to transfer that form. Super Six showed potential last season, including a fifth-placed effort in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival, and warrants respect on his first start over obstacles. Give Gandhi Maker some thought too.

ALIOMAANA looked like she was going to break her maiden tag over hurdles when last seen at this course if she had not had fallen at the last. The three-year-old filly is the only contender that has any experience over obstacles and she gets the nod to make amends here. Olympus comes from a family that has produced National Hunt winners which can give his supporters hope on his hurdle debut. Ultra Violet showed promise on the Flat in France and is another who merits respect in this field.

Minella Trump has been in terrific form this summer and arrives seeking his fourth consecutive victory. However, this looks to be a deeper race and a chance is taken on PAY THE PIPER transferring some excellent hurdles form to fences. Ann Hamilton's gelding won his first three over the smaller obstacles and was not disgraced when second last time. A winner between the flags, he could be capable of landing the spoils. One True King progressed well over hurdles last season and is one to note on his chase debut.

CLONDAW HOLLOW showed improved form when winning impressively at Downpatrick on his latest hurdling start and the Irish raider may prove too good for his rivals under a 7lb penalty. Punxsutawney Phil made late headway on his first start over obstacles at the same track earlier this month and is also worth noting, as is Findthetime, who was unlucky on his only appearance between the flags.

The Gordon Elliott-trained O CONNELL STREET bumped into an improving type when finishing second at this track on his chasing debut last time and the seven-year-old makes plenty of appeal as he drops back in trip. Makka Pakka performed respectably when runner-up at Market Rasen on his latest outing and still has the scope to progress for this yard, while Boy's On Tour has four wins to his name over course and distance and may also get involved.

The six-year-old GO FOX was always travelling well when winning in good style over course and distance last time, his first win over hurdles, and a 5lb higher mark may not be enough to halt his progress. Universal Folly produced his best effort of the year when finishing a close second at Cartmel last month and is rated a danger, while the Gordon Elliott-trained Uncle Henry looked a threat when falling three out at Cork on his latest start and can also make an impact.

The progressive Head On has obvious claims as he has won both of his starts over fences and comes here in search of a three-timer. However, this looks his toughest assignment yet so he will need to improve again, while Wye Aye has disappointed on his last two starts but could be a big player as he returns to the larger obstacles. The lightly-raced SPIDER'S BITE gets the vote, though, after taking a big step forward at this venue last time. He is making his stable debut and further improvement may be on the cards.

SHANROE TIC TEC could be a big player as he returns to 3m after staying on strongly over shorter trips on his last two starts. His previous attempt over this distance was a strong-looking piece of form at Worcester in April and, if he is ready to go after a 115-day break, he could be hard to beat. Fairlawn Flyer has only run twice over obstacles and has plenty of scope for improvement, while Crakehall Lad will have a live chance if he can reproduce his last run over hurdles at Cartmel.
