LAZY DARREN was pretty ordinary when trained on the Flat by Richard Hannon, but since joining Chris Grant has found a new lease of life over jumps, winning at Wetherby and Newcastle, then running even better in defeat when third at the Grand National meeting in a Grade 2 Hurdle. On official ratings Quicuyo is only a pound behind the selection and represents a big danger having mopped up three of these types of races during the winter. Cool Operator, who won as he liked at Catterick over this trip, has scope to improve and could also take a hand in the finish.

Despite being 34lbs higher in the ratings than at this time last year, BEGGARS CAP has taken the hike in the weights on the chin and come back for more. Successful on his last couple of outings over this trip at Carlisle and Southwell, Ferdy Murphy's gelding is fancied to complete his hat-trick at the main expense of the progressive Loch Oscaig. He's won two of his most recent four starts, each time showing stacks of speed to tear the hearts out of his hapless opponents. Previous course and distance scorer, Billyandi, hails from Carl Llewellyn's in-form stable, so also warrants plenty of respect.

Following three sparkling wins at Newcastle, Doncaster, and Haydock, TAZBAH totally fluffed his lines in a hot race at the Aintree Grand National meeting. Keith Reveley's staying star simply ran too badly to be true on that occasion and must be given another chance to redeem his tarnished reputation. Lodge Lane is nearly on a par with the selection form-wise, however, he appeared not to stay three miles at Cheltenham and Pride Of Dulcote, from the all-conquering Paul Nicholls stable, could give Tazbah most to think about in a fascinating affair.

An absolutely cracking renewal for the Kilmany Cup in which STANDIN OBLIGATION has an outstanding opportunity to follow up his recent Kelso victory. Peter Monteith's gelding won in decisive fashion and even though he must shoulder a 6lbs penalty, still has a few pounds in hand compared to his heady 2006 rating, when in the care of David Pipe. Antonius Caesar is a seriously useful young chaser who could yet prove to be well-in at the weights after a succession of good efforts. Kenzo 111 would also be in with a shout if the reproducing the form of his win at Wincanton in February.

Although bred entirely along the lines of a horse with a pedigree to run on the Flat, the remarkable NATIAIN has won six of his last eight races in Hunters' Chases, a superb record which is head-and-shoulders above his opponents on current evidence. Tynedale has been blowing hot-and-cold in point-to-points, nonetheless he comes into this race on the back of a recent win, and therefore may pose the most problems for the selection. Kausse de Thaix is impossible to predict these days, however if he bounced back to anything like top form could have a squeak should Natiain under-perform.

BOLLIN RUTH deserves to go one better having agonizingly occupied second-spot on her four latest starts. Her most recent defeat came at the hands La Vecchia Scuola, who produced a stunning surge to nail the selection at Ayr last Friday. The latter won again 24 hours later, giving the form a major boost. The dangers are numerous, none more so than Key Phil, who is rated far higher over fences, plus has triumphed at this course in the past. Sinatas posted a career-best when winning at Carlisle and along with the hat-trick seeking Exmoor Ranger, are two others to consider in a wide-open contest.
