However, the vote goes to BRAID BLUE, whose last couple of hurdling performances have been pleasing and he has Richard Johnson aboard for the first time since winning a course bumper last summer.
SKIDDAW VALLEYS has been knocking on the door in 2m novices and is taken to get off the mark with the step up to 2½m likely to be in his favour. Juge Et Parti has been expensive to follow and may have to settle for minor honours yet again. Gordon Elliott's course bumper winner Braid Blue leaves the impression he has more to offer over hurdles and is also shortlisted.

Walt had been cracking form, winning in Grade 3 company at Kempton, before struggling in the Close Brothers at Cheltenham and he warrants plenty of respect with his sights lowered, but SPECIAL PREP shades the verdict for Pauline Robson and Henry Brooke. The seven-year-old has won two of his last three starts in impressive fashion, finishing half a length second in between, and he can remain competitive despite a further 9lb hike in the ratings. One Forty Seven and Bafana Blue were both on the scoresheet last time and require plenty of respect, while Soupy Soups is a consistent performer who shouldn't be discounted.
BLAKERIGG made rapid strides forward when landing back-to-back handicap chase contests towards the back end of 2018 and, having seemingly been bogged down in the ground on his final outing, he's well worth a chance to get back on the up following a break. TED VEALE has been a model of consistency for the Alexander team of late and racing off the same mark as when beaten less three lengths by the useful Winston C last time, the 12-year-old makes plenty of appeal in this. Curious Carlos is interesting reverting to hurdles on his reappearance off what could be a lenient mark, while Golden Jeffrey may be suited by a drop back to two miles having won over course and distance in the past.
Backing MONFASS comes with clear risks attached given he hasn't fired in a light campaign and represents a yard beset by a virus of late, but he's on his last winning mark and is clearly a big player if back on his game. Ted Veale is a solid alternative, with Curious Carlos another to consider back hurdling.
