Avenging Ace is feared most for Donald McCain as his gelding won't mind any ease in the ground, while Blazin White Face completes the shortlist.

Ambion Wood has been given plenty of time to get over his winning Sandown exploits in March and the Grade 3 winner must come into the reckoning despite being forced to shoulder a penalty. TALKONTHESTREET, however, continues to show steady progress and the improving son of Milan gets the vote having won over a similar trip at both Exeter and Ludlow on his last two starts. Golden Call is another to take seriously and can make the frame if over his Aintree fall 12 days ago.
Ambion Wood sets the standard but he proved vulnerable when tackling this trip on testing conditions at Haydock on his penultimate outing, and is taken on with Miss Milborne, who will relish these conditions and showed last time that she's still on the up. Golden Call is another who should go close if over his crashing fall at Aintree recently.

ASTRACAD is very tough to oppose in this select novices' chase following a more than respectable second in the Red Rum Handicap Chase (Grade 3) at Aintree last time. Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge never ran his race in the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase at Cheltenham the time before but sets the standard in this contest and can give the field 4lb and a beating. Oscar Hill and Kai Broon rate best of the rest in that order.
Oscar Hill undoubtedly has the potential to do better on just his second start over fences, but he'll need to produce a very useful performance to lower the colours of Astracad, who is taken to round off a good first campaign over fences with victory here.

KNIGHT WOODSMAN reverts to timber for this handicap contest and, while a quicker surface appears to suit most, the dual Uttoxeter chase scorer looks one to stick with on his return to action. The selection was in splendid form when last seen, winning consecutive races over fences, and returns to action racing off an 8lb lower mark over hurdles. More Equity comes into this in good form and can figure again with Raajih respected on his handicap bow.
Raajih is a likely improver now switched to handicaps, upped in trip and tongue tied, and he can further enhance his stable's good record at this track. Knight Woodsman has a favourable mark to try and exploit over hurdles, and can go well for his new yard, while Stormion should be happier back on this slower ground and is respected.

COTTAGE OAK is no stranger to success around here and Gordon Elliot's charge is eased in class for this handicap affair - a race which looks within his grasp if back to the sort of form which saw him land a novice event here in August last year. Rhum is forced to shoulder a 7lb penalty for his distance success at Ffos Las 10 days ago but Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge is due to go up another 1lb in future races and must enter calculations, while Satou completes the shortlist.
Cottage Oak would have been the choice on a sound surface, but he's not sure to appreciate the forecast rain and is passed over in favour of Selection Box who was a good fourth at Down Royal last time. Blenheim Brook won't mind any further easing of the ground and isn't ruled out.
