LOOKING ON looked a decent prospect when opening his account over hurdles at Plumpton, justifying strong market confidence to win in fine style, and he looks one to keep onside this afternoon. Bumper winner Yes Daddy finished second on his hurdling debut at Wetherby but he was well beaten on that occasion and needs to step up, while Right To Rule comes here bidding to atone for a crashing fall at Carlisle recently.

Not a race for maximum stakes but KING'S CHORISTER comes into this on the back of a couple of solid placed efforts at Newcastle and Sedgefield respectively and could prove the most solid option. Urban Kode has dropped back to a winning mark now and shaped with more promise at Newcastle latest, while this slightly quicker ground might just see Dancing Gizmo in a better light following his recent Carlisle reappearance.

Nodforms Violet was a good winner over this C&D last autumn and would surely have gone close subsequently but for a crashing fall at Newcastle when last seen back in October. He has to be respected on his return to action while another last-time-out faller, Lamboro Lad, could make an impact if producing a clear round. However, Nigel Twiston-Davies is always a man to be feared with his runners at this venue and THE MUSICAL GUY looks to be peaking just at the right time following his Huntingdon second recently. Kempton third Be Definite is also respected.

ABBEY STORM is held in high regard and was by no means disgraced when losing out to Imperial Vic when last seen in February. His previous hurdling debut success at Musselburgh was highly impressive and he remains a hurdler of considerable potential. Seebright warrants respect on the back of his easy Fontwell success but this does look a sterner test of his credentials, while Look For Love enters calculations following his solid third in a decent Chepstow handicap latest.

Micheal Flips was well overdue a victory when regaining the winning thread at Ludlow a fortnight ago and he can go well again off this 9lb higher mark today with confidence very much restored. Rody is forced to shoulder a 7lb penalty for his successful exploits at Wincanton 11 days ago, so MAC AEDA is therefore preferred under a nice weight. The son of Kayf Tara bumped into the well-handicapped Battle Group in a Listed event at Aintree the last day but he finished a very creditable runner-up and is well worth another look off this unchanged mark of 126.

16:45 Perth (Class 5) (5YO plus)

The 124-rated SOTOVIK sets a very good standard in this hunters' chase and he was last sighted under Rules when scoring in a competitive course handicap in July last year. Twice a point-to-point winner since, the son of Aahsaylad shouldn't be lacking in the fitness department and the market should tell us more about that in the build-up. Sedgefield runner-up Special Portrait is one of two C&D winners going to post, but it's Noir Et Vert that is feared most returning from a successful period between the flags.

Matthew Riley is clearly well thought of at home and the Newcastle winner commands the utmost respect on his handicap bow. It could be worth taking a punt on PAINTBALL, however. Charlie Longsdon's charge has struggled to show his best form this term, but he scored in last year's renewal of the Imperial Cup at Sandown off a 1lb higher mark and is dangerously well treated if returning to something like that form. Jet Master makes most appeal of the others.
