GENERAL HARDI, who made a pleasing debut over hurdles when finishing runner-up at Sedgefield last week, should come on for the experience and can go one better today. Fastaffaran showed some improvement at Kelso last time and should appreciate this better ground, while bumper winner Troll needs to brush up on his jumping, but can reach the frame.

REAP THE REWARD, who stepped-up markedly on his previous efforts over hurdles to score convincingly at Ayr on Friday, races off a 5lb lower mark here today and looks to have every chance of following up. Powerlove won round here last season over much shorter, but improved for the step-up to this trip when winning at Ayr last time and could prove a big danger, while Custom Design is on the upgrade and may sneak into a place.

KID'Z'PLAY fell for the first time in his career at Market Rasen last time, but returns to his favourite track today, where he has already won on five occasions and Jim Goldie's ten-year-old can regain his confidence by scoring here again. The well thought of Galero got off the mark over fences at the third time of asking at Musselburgh in January and looks the biggest threat, while Ryders Storm put in a good round of jumping to score at Worcester last time and should again be in the shake-up.

John Smith's Handicap Hurdle

NERONE got off the mark over hurdles when given a positive ride at Ayr last time, and can go in again if the same tactics are used here today. Rehearsal was in decent form on the all-weather over the winter and would be a big threat if at his best, while Nigel Twiston-Davies, who has a good record at this track, runs two here, and could get in the money with Billyandi.

The lightly-raced TERRE DE JAVA benefitted from the step-up in trip when scoring in good style at Taunton recently and Heather Dalton's eight-year-old can follow up today. Polyphon is chasing a hat trick, but his stamina will be severely tested over this extra half mile, while stablemate Gone Too Far ran a decent race on the Flat at Musselburgh last month and is another to consider.

17:15 Perth (Class 4) (4YO plus)

Amateur Riders' Handicap Hurdle

3m 110y

Richard Ford has his string in good form and OULTON BROAD, who won a seller at Huntingdon last month, can defy this step-up in grade and follow-up here. Fortunate Dave reverts to hurdling after a couple of good runs on the point-to-point circuit and could give the selection most to do, while Sir Rowland Hill showed a return to form when finishing third at Worcester last time and should go well again on this decent ground.
