Tom George's Miss Night Owl was a runaway 50-length winner last time at Ludlow and commands serious respect here at a meeting the Gloucestershire handler likes to target. However, serious consideration has to be given to WAR CREATION, who got off the mark over hurdles at Ludlow last time and represents the powerful Seven Barrows operation. Of the rest, Verona Opera looks vulnerable from a win perspective but can contest for minor honours with Brian Hughes on board.

Nicky Henderson's Maestro Royal was a likeable winner of a hot Newbury handicap when last seen and is respected again here despite the 5lb rise. Nuts Well had been knocking on the door this season before getting a deserved victory at Newcastle last time and is another who needs consideration, while Sandymount could be well treated on his handicap debut. However, SKY KHAN has been dropped a further 4lb for his Aintree no-show and is now extremely well handicapped if putting it all back together on the track for Grand National winning trainer Lucinda Russell. A similar story applies for Ben Haslam's Call The Cops who is 5lb lower than his greatest triumph, when landing the Pertemps Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Lord Ballim unseated his jockey here when in search of a four-timer earlier in the week and makes a quick reappearance now in search of compensation. A tongue-tie and cheekpieces are tried now on West Wizard who makes his first start for Sophie Leech and is respected off just 2lb higher than when defeated a neck by Duellingbanjos. However, preference is for the Rhonehurst raider, THE FRESH PRINCE, to make a bold bid having looked a chaser to note when winning at Uttoxeter, and he can bounce back to form here.

C&D winner URBAN KODE kept on at the one pace in the finish when second over 2m2f at Kelso last time and promises to be suited by this stiffer test. Ballygrooby Bertie drops back in trip after landing minor money over 3m at Musselburgh in December and is the one that could give the selection most to think about. Snowed In was tapped for toe when fifth over 2m at Wetherby last time and could also be suited by this step up in trip.

SHANROE STREET was touched off by a neck over the extended 3m2f at Musselburgh last time out and is likely improver now stepped up to this longer trip. Recent Catterick third Mister Don has been knocking on the door and is capable of playing another supporting role, while Marlee Massie lost little in defeat when second over a shorter trip at Kelso earlier in the month and remains unexposed over extreme distances. Double Whammy is only 1lb higher than when winning this contest 12 months ago but has to shoulder top-weight on this occasion.

6

MONSIEUR JOURDAIN represents last year's winning rider and the course and distance winner arrives here in good shape after showing some nice form between the flags in recent weeks. Top Cat Henry has recent form under Rules and looks poised to go well in this sort of company, while Hindon Road should be suited by this increase in distance after looking one-paced at Southwell last time out. Close House and Wind Of Hope are others to note.

WHATSWRONGWITHYOU represents a yard that is very selective with their runners here and the six-year-old looked to be getting the hang of things when an easy winner at Ludlow last month, shaping much more promisingly in his first-time hood and quickening well in the final stages. He looks likely to be ridden in that style by Nico De Boinville once more, and the pair can account for Golden Jeffrey, who is an interesting recruit to the Iain Jardine team after showing promise in this sphere for Mark Johnston. Gleno ran well when fourth in a hot Punchestown bumper in December and is worth noting for a yard that does well with their UK raids.
