OTTO THE GREAT is rated 10lb superior to Billfromthebar, who looks his main rival in this novice hurdle opener, and Nicky Henderson's charge should be able to land the odds. The smart Nico de Boinville is well worth his 5lb claim in the saddle and the Turgeon gelding beat a very useful form yardstick in No Loose Change when last sighted at Newton Abbot. Donald McCain's inmate rarely runs a bad race and cannot be completely overlooked, while Be My Deputy brings some useful chase form to the table and he completes the shortlist.

Urban Kode landed this corresponding handicap for Lucinda Russell 12 months ago and MORNING TIME can give the Scottish-based handler back-to-back victories in the race. The Hawk Wing gelding completed the hat-trick over C&D in fine style earlier this month and should be able to exploit this 7lb higher mark if arriving in a similar mood. Breeze With Ease ran with credit when last sighted at Downpatrick and is another that warrants shortlist inclusion along with Edgware Road.

Twentypoundluck posted a career best effort when beaten three lengths into second over this C&D in handicap company last time out but he might just find these novices' too strong. Mulligan's Man is consistent and represents the potent Donald McCain/Jason Maguire combination, but RHYMERS HA' looks the one to be on. If punters are willing to forgive his latest mishap at Hexham, the six-year-old finished a close second behind Jack The Gent at Kelso two starts ago and that form reads well. Toledo Gold must concede weight to his three rivals but is taken to be thereabouts.

It could be significant that Denis O'Regan takes over in the plate aboard Butney Boy, who reverts to timber sporting the first-time cheekpieces, and the market should deliver further clues about his chances. He'll be thereabouts along with Sultana Belle if the pair run up to their respective ratings but CLOUDY JOKER gets the verdict. A much improved third in a course bumper the last day, Donald McCain's point-to-point winner is expected to have been well schooled in preparation for his hurdles bow and there should be more to come.

DJ MILAN could be the one to latch onto here at generous odds. No match for the useful Kian's Delight when making his chase bow here 16 days ago, the Milan gelding gets in under a nice weight now pitched into the handicap ranks and the step up to 3m should play to his strengths. Owen Glendower bumped into the in-form Paddy The Hare when last sighted at Market Rasen and he's noted for leading connections, along with Quito Du Tresor, who boasts a good record at the Scottish venue.

Lord Of Drums is up 5lb for beating Twentypoundluck (runs in novice company earlier on the card) over 2m here at the beginning of the month but Lucinda Russell's charge looks opposable against these rivals. Polarbrook arrives here in good health and, like Diddley Dee, threatened a big performance on his latest outing, but FEISTY LASS gets the nod. Gordon Elliott's charge won over this C&D in a selling handicap hurdle two starts ago and she backed that up with a creditable second over the extended 3m here last time. Her experience over fences is pretty limited but she's expected to know her task representing shrewd connections.

LISBON can complete the hat-trick in the finale. The lightly-raced Cape Cross gelding fairly bolted up when making a mockery of his mark of 112 over C&D earlier this month and a 14lb rise for that might not be enough to stop him going in again. He's clearly improved for the quicker ground in recent starts, so Down Royal winner Toye Native might be forced to settle for a supporting role. Howwoulduno arrives on a hat-trick of his own and the handicap debutant is feared most.
