PURPLE KING should take all of the beating in the opener judged on his gutsy maiden success at Stratford at the beginning of the month. Now boasting a rating of 121, the son of Lope De Vega has been located another very winnable opening against these rivals and he can get the better of Palixandre, who won by 18 lengths at Ludlow but was left in front 100 yards out after Sunset Showdown jinked under pressure and unseated Aidan Coleman. Debuting for a new yard now, he can claim the silver medal ahead of Lake Baikal.

NIETZSCHE has to concede 6lb to Innocent Touch, who is only rated 2lb inferior, but Brian Ellison's charge is fancied to score on the basis that he won over C&D on his chase bow last month and accounted for the Henry Daly-trained gelding when second at Hexham last time. Tonto's Spirit won well at Cartmel in May and is taken to bounce back from a disappointing effort over timber there latest.

Desert Point has been kept busy on the Flat recently and performed well in defeat at Hamilton last time out. He is interesting going back over hurdles for this assignment, but KASHMIR WILDE's overall profile is slightly more attractive as she brings good bumper form to the table and wasn't disgraced on her hurdles bow at Downpatrick. Getting weight from Keith Dalgleish's inmate, she looks the one to be on. Heavey is another to take seriously.

A select but competitive handicap in which OLD SALT edges the verdict on the basis that he was impressive at Cartmel 10 days ago, a winning performance for which the handicapper has raised him 7lb. The seven-year-old boasts six wins from 12 starts when sporting this headgear combination and can come out on top in a battle with fellow last-start scorer (hurdles) Buck Dancing and top-weight El Terremoto.

PAT'S OSCAR returns to hurdles after trying fences for the first time here earlier in the month and Gordon Elliott's mare could still have more to offer on the evidence of her performance at Ayr two starts ago. Despite falling at the last, she was staying on well in front and is only 4lb higher. Putting Green (first) and Always Tipsy (second) are closely matched on their C&D appearance 16 days ago and the pair can both be competitive once again.

DANBORU gained his first victory under Rules in a maiden hurdle at Newton Abbot recently and, with that success under his belt, he may now have the confidence boost required to see him continue in winning form. Chateau Robin returns from over a year off the track and enters calculations on his debut for Nicky Richards, while Roll Of Thunder and Mr Bolt can fight it out for the minor honours.

Christian Williams has a fine record revitalising horses from other yards and ARTISTE CELEBRE could prove to be another example of this. He makes his debut for the stable after running with some promise at Ffos Las last month and a pair of cheekpieces could see him take a step forward. Oromo is capable of going close on his C&D second two outings ago, while Oceanus and Mrs Davies appear best of the remainder.
