LIFE AND TIMES is on a real upward curve at present and the race fit Medaglia d'Oro gelding is fancied in his bid to complete the hat-trick. Mark Johnston's inmate absolutely bolted up at Wolverhampton on Saturday and although he's done his winning on a synthetic surface so far, he's hard to get away from in his current mood and a 6lb penalty might not be enough to stop him. Of the others, Mixed Message represents last year's winning handler Brian Ellison and she warrants respect along with Ishikawa.

Libertarian landed this maiden 12 months ago en route to finishing runner-up in the Derby three starts later and connections of MUNAASER will be hoping he can follow in similar footsteps. Sir Michael Stoute rarely sends runners to the Yorkshire venue and his New Approach colt shaped with plenty of promise when third in a good looking Yarmouth maiden on debut last September. The same can be said about Sufranel who looked to have a bright future when second on his Kempton introduction, while Zee Zeely caught the eye in both his starts as a juvenile and is also expected to be on the premises.

Richard Fahey boasts a highly respectable record at this time of year and Khalice is expected to be fully wound up for his return to action, but SEE THE SUN makes plenty of appeal on his seasonal reappearance and edges the vote. The Assertive gelding is the choice of stable jockey David Allan and the course winner was far from disgraced when finishing second to subsequent winner Musical Comedy on unfavoured ground at Haydock last October. Stablemate Kenny The Captain ended last season on an upward curve and merits respect with Lambourn raider Jazz another worth considering.

The booking of Ryan Moore for CALCULATED RISK could be significant and he remains off an attractive mark of 72 in this code based on some respectable NH form. Soft ground would appear to bring out the best in John Quinn's innate and although he finished down the field in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham last time, he finished mid-field in the Greatwood earlier in the season and will be fighting fit for this assignment. Fitzwilly and Madam Lilibet boast similar profiles in that they both arrive fit following recent NH exploits and that pair are entitled to make their presence felt too.

Expect Sennockian Star to make the running for Mark Johnston and he'll prove a tough nut to crack, while Las Verglas Star is equally as gutsy and he represents last year's winning trainer/jockey combination. CENTURIUS is entitled to have improved for his Wolverhampton reappearance, though, and could be the one to side with sporting the first-time cheekpieces. Not beaten far at the Midlands venue last month, he should be fitter for that spin and he brings some strong handicap form to the table.

Danehill Revival is a well bred filly and any market confidence would inspire further confidence ahead her racecourse debut, while Sitting Pritty finished a fair third at Wolverhampton last month and there is room for her on the shortlist too. TWO SMART can give Karl Burke a winner, though, as she was deemed good enough to contest a hot sales race at Newmarket in October last year and lost nothing in defeat when finishing five lengths adrift of Wedding Ring on that occasion. The latter went on to land the UAE 1000 Guineas Trial in Meydan in January before finishing a decent fourth behind Ihtimal in the main event the following month so the form looks solid.

HIGH OFFICE ran on in eyecatching fashion for the silver medal at Doncaster on his seasonal reappearance nine days ago and hasn't been punished by the handicapper. A mark of 72 is an attractive one based on the pick of his form and Josh Quinn claims a valuable 7lb in the plate. Cathedral arrives buoyed by his Kempton win eight days ago and he carries a 6lb penalty under Ryan Moore, while Gold Show is 3lb lower than when landing the spoils 12 months ago and is also one to note.
