Improvising was knocking on the door in the summer but has disappointed the last twice, including at Nottingham on Wednesday, and preference is for SHESCOMINGHOME. She enjoyed the synthetics underneath her when placing at Wolverhampton last time and soft ground here could suit, while there should be more to come after only two starts. Elieden and Cognac Blue are others with solid claims stepping up in trip.

Urban Highway was somewhat disappointing when sent off favourite at Pontefract, only managing a third-placed finish behind a shock 100/1 winner. It could be best to side with Richard Fahey's ABSOLUTE DREAM, who himself was a beaten favourite last time, but has some smart form from earlier in the season when chasing home the likes of Dark Vision and Persian Moon. Roulston Scar rates the pick of the Kevin Ryan duo, while Gylo is potentially the most intriguing of the newcomers on show.

Andrew Balding's Soldier To Follow was an easy winner over 1m4f at Hamilton last time and a 4lb rise may be lenient if proving just as effective up in trip. Grecian Spirit is a consistent performer who could easily stay this far following wind surgery, while Ice Galley was handed a 6lb rise for a C&D victory last month which doesn't completely rule him out of the equation. However, ICARIO has made a bright start for Stef Keniry since switching from Gordon Elliott, and looks set for a big run here off the same mark as when only beaten a neck at Catterick last time.

Ride The Monkey scored here over 7f on debut last month and is respected tackling an extra furlong now. However, preference is for FOX LEICESTER, who saw the penny drop in the latter stages at Ascot, running on for third, and the 310,000-euro Dark Angel colt can produce a much more professional performance this time. Any strong market vibes for John Gosden's Dubawi newcomer Lord North should be noted, while Barys was a beaten favourite at Chelmsford last time but still possesses plenty of potential and a step up to a mile is interesting.

POLYPHONY benefited from the step up to 7f when winning at the fifth time of asking at Musselburgh last month and a 4lb rise seems fair for John Mackie's filly. Mischief Managed has been a model of consistency without getting his head in front and another solid effort is expected, while The Groove has gone close on his last couple of outings and has the assistance of Cieren Fallon's 7lb claim.

DESERT DREAM can be a bit unpredictable but a repeat of the effort which saw him hit the crossbar at Ayr last month should be good enough to win this contest. Naples Bay doesn't appear to relish the all-weather but his turf form suggests that he could pick up some prize money today. Slipstream was only caught on the line in a Leicester seller on Tuesday and he can make his mark back in handicap company.

This is not the strongest of races and it appears to be an ideal opportunity for MONTANA DAWN to get off the mark. David Barron's filly disappointed last time out but her previous form, including a third-placed finish in a Doncaster novice event, offers plenty of encouragement. It's A Wish and Henrietta's Dream are others with experience who could make the frame but, given the weakness of their form, it would be no surprise to any of Bielsa, Danzena or Inching Closer go well on their respective debuts.

BOLLIN TED failed to fire on his return from a short break last time out but he can be given another chance based on his victory at Nottingham two starts ago. Grandscape was only narrowly denied at Wolverhampton when last seen and she could be the main threat to the selection this afternoon, ahead of Savannah Moon and Mr Carbonator.
