OBLIGATION is taken to open his account at the third time of asking. This son of Galileo has displayed a fair level of ability in both starts over 1m to date and a trio of Group 1 entries suggest that connections think a fair bit of him. Tiz The Shot has shown enough promise in previous starts to suggest that he can go close, while jockey bookings suggest that Back Cover is Dermot Weld's leading hope and he warrants respect on debut.

Aidan O'Brien was responsible for the winner of this race 12 months ago and appears to have another outstanding chance with SEVILLE this afternoon. He showed plenty of encouraging signs when runner-up on his racecourse debut over 1m at Gowran eight days ago and that should have just taken the edge of him. Obligada showed a likeable attitude when striking first time up at Limerick and rates the biggest threat, while Triple Eight looks best of the remaining trio.

AIR CHIEF MARSHAL takes a big drop in class and holds outstanding claims on his ready defeat of the reopposing Duff in similar company over this trip at the Curragh in July. Libano, an Italian import and officially the highest rated in the field, is an interesting contender for Dermot Weld. He hasn't been sighted since finishing down the field on his seasonal bow back in April but is capable of a big run. Croisultan is nothing if not consistent and looks sure to give a good account, while the lightly-raced Keredari looked a Group horse in the making at the Curragh in April but his only subsequent run came when sixth in the Irish Guineas.

DONNAS PALM found only Solwhit too strong in the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown in January and subsequently chased home Mourad over 2m4f at Fairyhouse in April. The grey really took his form to a new level last season and looks to have been found an ideal opportunity in which to make a winning reappearance. Stablemate Aitmatov is no back number, despite his advancing years, but Galway Hurdle runner-up Bahrain Storm could give the selection most to think about following a couple of spins on the level.

FARRINGDON got off the mark at the second time of asking over fences when beating Alpha Ridge at Ballinrobe last month and he looks well worth a crack at this better prize. Glenstal Abbey is unbeaten in two outings over the larger obstacles this year and also looks like making into a very useful chaser. Beau Michael has remained in excellent heart since landing three wins on the bounce in the summer and must be respected, while Gonebeyondrecall is on the up but will do well to supplement his recent Listowel handicap success in this contest.

BALLYADAM BROOK could take some stopping in his bid to make it five wins in a row. He arguably produced his best effort yet when readily beating a decent field at Listowel just over two weeks ago and this progressive son of Alderbrook should have no problems shouldering top weight today. One Cool Tornado has won three of his last four appearances and is unlikely to go down without fighting, while Oilily and Hazeymm are others to consider in a competitive heat.

This should go the way of OUR GAR, who ended last season with wins at Navan and Punchestown. After a summer break, he put in a fine effort over 2m 4f at Listowel before fading late on and finishing fifth. With that run under his belt, he can improve enough to score here. Macville, winner of a Killarney maiden two starts ago, has claims here but The Shepherd looks to be making steady progress in handicap company and may be a better bet for the forecast.

8

Presenting Nama was a game winner at Clonmel last month and should be open to further improvement but Roscommon scorer Earls Quarter makes more appeal after just two starts. They look to be playing for places, however, behind BULLOCK HARBOUR, a comfortable winner at Listowel last month. That was his second win of the year (placed in his other two starts) and he looks the have the measure of these rivals.
