Big Sky Chile, after winning a $5k maiden claimer over C&D, has been third three times in succession in similar contests to this. Rare American has followed a similar route but is starting to look exposed now and it might be worth giving a chance here to LATIN HEART, who isn't the most consistent but has good recent form in tougher contests. Dropped in class today, she gets the vote.
Back in a sprint after being tried over routes in better company, DRAMATIC VISION, just failed to land a better event over C&D last month. Down in class again tonight, he should prove too good for these rivals. Star Of The Range won a similar contest over six and a half furlongs last time and looks the danger while Scofield Honour, who has been knocking on the door, and Malachi, an easy winner in a weaker race last month, must be considered.
Mango Minou has been running well in similar company lately but is still a maiden after 16 starts and may have to settle for a place again. Much less exposed are CHAI ANN and Transcending, who finished second and third over seven and a half furlongs here last month. There should be little between them again but the selection appears to have superior stamina and this slight step-up in trip is likely to be in her favour.
SHE'S LEGAL lines up here in search of a hat-trick and Bill Braeshears filly looks up to the task. She could have most to fear from Nifty Alicat, who fared much better last time, and R Donna Belle who got up close home earlier in the month.
This looks wide open. Western Drouilly has been finishing there or thereabouts lately and has to be considered, Freddy Cat has the form to figure but lacks a recent run, Nab A Copy needs to step up a gear on his latest efforts and Last Class seems to have gone off the boil. APPLIED ACT ran well on his return from a break, should improve for the run and gets the vote.
It may pay to concentrate on Rock The Stone and HOLLYWOOD D. A. here who have both been running well of late and the verdict goes marginally in favour of Richard Hunt's gelding. Mr. Classy Action could run into the places but Leading Brave appeals as a likelier winner.
