QUEVANO stayed on to finish 4th of 16 on debut as 2yo and would have come on with that experience. She hasn't been seen since and is open to any amount of improvement after a 560-day absence, so it may pay to follow her progress. MAGIC CARPET RIDE and WINTER BELLE are better than their last starts suggest and they could make their presence felt on earlier form. SHADOWFAX was dropped out from the widest draw before running to finish a commendable 4th in a Grade 2 over 1600m last time and a repeat of that effort should suffice im this. ONE EYE ON VEGAS was touched off in a competitive 1160m sprint last time and will play a leading role if running to that form again. SPLITTHEEIGHTS confirmed the promise of his 1160m debut by improving to win a lucrative course-and-distance maiden last time, and he could follow up with improvement on the cards. Stablemate CLEVER TREVOR will appreciate reverting to this trip and is also open to improvement after a layoff on his reappearance after gelding. BELIEVE IN FATE was last seen in a 2yo Grade 1 and warrants respect on his return from a lengthy absence with top jock Richard Fourie booked to ride. ANTONIO GAUDI and SPY STORY are consistent hard-knockers with the form and experience at this level to be competitive.
