Good contest. KEEP THE FORT has been threatening but costly to follow, however, she should be involved in the finish. AVOONTOAST showed inexperience on debut and will know more about it. Classy DESERT MIRACLE showed true form in Cape Town and is back on home ground. Despite shouldering top weight of 62kg, she is well in. She gives stablemate, in-form HUMDINGER, 4kg and meets other inmate, Durban July winner SPARKLING WATER, on level terms. Verdict

The Protea Stakes (Grade 3) for juveniles over 1100m is very interesting. Stable companions LUCKY LAD and THE AFRICA HOUSE showed inexperience when winning on their debuts and will come on. GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE was backed on debut but was run out of it. He will come on heaps. Watch debutante AMBER ROCK, she gets a sex allowance and it's obvious her trainer thinks highly of her.

Verdict

The Pretty Poly Stakes (Grade 3) over 1100m has attracted 6 winners, 1 debutante and 1 maiden.
