This step up in trip can bring about the improvement required for Harry Whittington representative ZEPHYROS BLEU to break his maiden tag. He has been unfortunate to earn rises in the ratings for two second-placed finishes this year but he is still on a workable mark and is not fully exposed. A small field but none of three contestants can be easily dismissed. OSCAR SUNSET has been mixing it with some top novices this winter and his defeat of Baltimore Rock at Doncaster in February is considered the best piece of form on offer here. He does have to concede 16lb to Rothman, who won well at Fontwell in August and is entitled to come on for his return effort at Taunton recently. Kilfinichen Bay would prefer better ground and has to improve on his recent efforts, though he had won eight of his previous nine starts.

Plenty with viable claims but it is hard to overlook LOVES DESTINATION, whose current rich vein of improvement shows no sign of abating. Indeed, he was particularly impressive when delivering a third success in four starts at Plumpton last time, a victory for which he receives no penalty (conditional jockeys' contest), and he can oblige once again. Good Vibration has been unfortunate not to get his head in front by now and his latest of four successive seconds behind the rejuvenated Captain Redbeard reads well. He rates the main threat, with Join The Navy and Bryden Boy also shortlisted.

STORMING STRUMPET looks on a handy mark here after putting a fall on his chasing debut behind him last time when a fair third over 2m at Ludlow. He stays further than the minimum trip and this move to 2m4f and the useful claim of the steadily-improving Jamie Bargary may enable him to land the spoils. As a six-year-old, he also retains more scope for improvement than his rivals. Harry Fry has sent CALLING DES BLINS on the journey from Dorset to Uttoxter and the French import, his sole representative at the fixture, should make the trip worthwhile.
