Jonjo O'Neill has his string in decent heart and French recruit TAQUIN DU SEUIL is fancied to make a winning start for new connections. He has some solid form to his name on the level and although likely to need more of a test a little further down the line, he's sure to his know his job. Fontwell bumper winner No No Charlie looks a nice prospect for hurdling and rates the main danger, ahead of Vintage Red and NH newcomer Lydstep Point.

FORRESTERS FOLLY has had a few chances over timber now but he looks to be getting the hang of things judged by last month's second to the potentially useful Dursey Sound over this C&D. Alan King's charge is probably worth sticking with, but The Jugopolist is likely to put up plenty of resistance on his first public outing over obstacles. Former Godolphin representative Montefeltro starts out for John Ferguson and the trainer has rapidly become adept at succeeding with such types. Monitor the betting market closely.

PINDAR followed up his Lingfield Flat win in August with victory back over hurdles at Hereford last month and he remains feasibly treated in spite of a subsequent 8lb hike in the weights. If the softer ground here catches him out, perhaps Murfreesboro will take full advantage, although he hasn't been sighted since finishing third at Cartmel back in July. Lauberhorn has slipped to a more realistic mark and Oliver's Gold is at least open to some improvement, but they both have enough to prove.

Interesting Flat recruit Bankroll is well worth a second glance but there has to be some doubt over his stamina given both his wins on the level came at 7f. Preference, therefore, is for UP TO SOMETHING, who was unbeaten in three bumper starts last season and showed real tenacity when landing a pig pot at Newbury when last seen in March. Glyn Ceiriog is another expected to acquit herself with credit at the first time of asking over timber.

DAWN COMMANDER makes plenty of appeal on his chasing debut and return to competitive action. Charlie Longsdon's five-year-old enjoyed a good novice hurdle campaign last season, winning a maiden hurdle for previous connections and signing off with an easy victory over 3m at Market Rasen in March. He should make up into a smart chaser. Ackertac failed to strike in seven outings over fences last term but his form behind Hunt Ball at the Cheltenham Festival reads well and it shouldn't be long before he's off the mark in this sphere. Westlin' Winds and Valmari complete the shortlist.

Following an impressive 3m success on soft ground at Perth, FOG PATCHES found 2m5f too sharp at the same venue last time out. Back up in trip with conditions to suit, Lucinda Russell's charge can bounce back today. Forever My Friend needs to improve his jumping but merits respect nonetheless, while Bishophill Jack and Noble Witness are others with obvious claims for top spot.

A chance is taken on the fitness of GRASSFINCH, who looked a progressive performer when last seen. After winning at Fakenham in February, the mare almost followed up when narrowly denied at Fakenham last time out in April and there should be more to come from her. Wheres The Hare races off the same mark as when third over C&D last month and can certainly make his presence felt, while Mossini might be best watched after his chasing debut fall at Plumpton and Sail And Return hasn't raced since April 2011.

8

17:30 Uttoxeter (Class 5) (4YO plus)

Farley Landscape Services (Matlock - 01629 57884) Handicap Chase

QUINDER SPRING was unable to follow up his August Cartmel win when second at Market Rasen last month but there was little wrong with his effort in defeat. He clearly remains in good form and the drop back in class is expected to see him return to winning ways. Maizy Missile and Sonic Anthem are very capable at this sort of level and both arrive in good nick, but they are thoroughly exposed now and perhaps Stafford Charlie will prove the greater threat.
