INDIANA DAWN had Gold Bud well in arrears when finishing in midfield on her debut at Bath and normal progress would be enough to land what looks a very weak race on paper. Canford Lilli struggled in handicap company last time but did go close in a Chepstow maiden prior to that. Degas Bronze could be the pick of the newcomers who, quite frankly, wouldn't have to be anything special to exceed the form of those with experience.

Rather like the opening contest, those who have racing experience have hardly set the bar too high for the newcomers so if Ahlan Bil Zain or Cape Cruiser are useful recruits, they might be the answer. A safer alternative could be GLORIOUS FOREVER, who finished nicely over 7f at Redcar on debut and should improve for the step up in trip. Jewel House represents illustrious connections but has been beaten out of sight on both starts, a comment that also applies to Richard Hannon's Harry Beau.

Some very interesting newcomers here, including Andrew Balding's High Commander, who fetched 160,000 guineas as a yearling, and Dubawi Prince, who cost a princely 725,000 guineas. Al Shaqab's Munawer cost 350,000 guineas and is another debutant to note, but ADAMANT gets the vote. Sir Michael Stoute's colt was slowly away but picked up nicely enough in the closing stages on debut over 7f at Leicester and this trip looks ideal.

Boutan won well in selling company at Chepstow but has a fair bit to find on official figures, with the first-time-blinkered Skeaping giving her 7lb despite being rated 8lb higher. However, the best treated has to be COLD FUSION, who is rated just 7lb lower than Skeaping but gets 13lb here. An emphatic winner at Newmarket in July, she has struggled on the all-weather the last twice but may relish this return to turf.

A hugely competitive event and a case can arguably be made for every horse in the field. POINT OF VIEW gets what can only be a tentative vote, therefore, as he left his soft-ground eclipse at Ascot behind when third in a fair race at Yarmouth. Stratum has been in excellent form of late and won easily on his last visit to this track, while Athlon's winning run came to an end at Chelmsford but he was hardly disgraced in going down by less than a length. Niblawi, Wrangler and Master Of Irony are others who could challenge.

Calibration has been running well in maidens and probably deserves his place at the head of the weights here, but FAIR POWER could prove tough to stop. Sylvester Kirk's gelding ran a cracker to be fifth in a big sales race at the Curragh and the way he stayed on that day suggests this step up to a mile should suit. Manners Please and Quothquan are two others who merit respect.

SKY SHIP had been competing in better races on turf, though his form appeared to be tailing off somewhat. A return to the all-weather saw him finish second at Kempton and that could have put him back into better form for this. Tiercel won at Kempton and is interesting if reproducing that on turf, while Aqua Ardens and Double Czech will both be bidding to improve on recent runner-up finishes.

Time Medicean shows no signs of slowing down at the ripe old age of 10 and was beaten just a neck at Brighton last time, while Pharoh Jake was not too far away at Epsom and is still going well at the age of eight. At the lower end of the age range, Frank The Barber has been going well on the all-weather and VINCENZO COCCOTTI has also impressed of late, missing out by just a length at Bath last time and getting another chance off the same mark.
