It is hard to look past LOCAL BAY, who made an impressive debut for new connections when winning comfortably at Newcastle last week. Aiming to strike while the iron is hot, David O'Meara's colt is turned out again after a 7lb rise, with Hollie Doyle a notable jockey booking. Hellavapace hasn't been beaten far on her last few outings and is expected to be thereabouts along with Channel Packet, who remains 6lb below his last winning mark. Completing the shortlist are Billy Roberts and Almufeed.

Narrowly denied over C&D last time out, this can go the way of DIAMOND JILL, whose sole career victory came here in May off 2lb lower than her current mark. Connections mean business by booking David Probert and the four-year-old's stamina is a big advantage over recent course winner Rania, who has yet to prove herself over this far. Nuble is a work in progress for Marco Botti but she does have ability, while Johnny Estella is of interest on his first start for new connections.

This could well be the day that SOCIALLY SHADY's luck changes, having been denied by no more than a head on his last two outings at Chelmsford. Raised a mere 1lb, the son of Zoffany has been a stalwart for his stable this season and can finally be rewarded. Phoenix Aquilus was last seen going close over hurdles at Southwell, and the booking of Adam Kirby takes the eye. Metal Man is another who must enter calculations.

ROMAN DYNASTY returned to form when posting an encouraging second at Chelmsford. The three-year-old gelding has been raised just 1lb and is fancied to build on that performance. Precision Storm took a step back in the right direction when fourth at Kempton and could be the danger now returning to this shorter trip, although Peintre D'etoiles is lightly raced on the all-weather and might be open to further improvement.

ACHNAMARA took a step in the right direction when finishing second at Kempton last month. The son of Kodiac was only headed in the closing stages on that occasion and he might be hard to pass if getting an uncontested lead. Grand Libya shaped with promise when last seen at Redcar and could be the danger now making his all-weather debut. Anglesey Abbey looks to be the pick of the newcomers in an interesting affair.

SWEET GLANCE offered plenty of encouragement when finishing a close fourth on her racecourse debut at Catterick in October. The daughter of Ardad gets the vote to build on that experience, now having her first taste of the all-weather. Bankrupt was not far away over this C&D last time and he appears to be the chief threat, while cases can also be made for Pure Charmer and Royal Cygnet.

MUSCIKA continued his excellent run of form on the all-weather when winning more comfortably than the margin would suggest over C&D last week, and the seven-year-old makes the most appeal. Corvair unsurprisingly reverts to sprinting on his first start for Robert Cowell and warrants the utmost respect, while three-year-old filly Night Narcissus boasts a consistent profile and can also have a say.

C&D winner SOME NIGHTMARE caught the eye making good late headway when dropped to the minimum distance at this track last time. A return to this trip looks set to work in his favour and he is preferred to Inevitable Outcome, who is expected to build on her recent comeback run at this course. Sands Of Time almost held on despite facing pressure up front at Lingfield on her latest start and can also play a prominent role.
