Any market support for Walter Swinburn's newcomer Fisher Bridge would be of interest, but this opening heat looks well within the range of PIGEON ISLAND. He looked a surefire future winner when beaten just over a length on his debut over 1m2f at Lingfield last month, and with that run under his belt, he can go one better. Whatizzit was doing her best work in the latter stages on her debut and is the clear pick of the remainder.

Sir Sandrovitch has been a wonderful servant to his connections over the years, winning 11 races. Dropped into a seller here, he will be there or thereabouts at the finish. Shadow Jumper was a beaten favourite in a 6f Southwell seller last time but is respected, as is MADRASEE. Successful twice earlier this year, she has performed with credit in her last two races here over 5f and will be a very popular choice this afternoon.

Following in-form horses during the winter on the all-weather can often prove profitable and GILDED COVE looks the one to beat here. All 10 of his career victories have been gained on an artificial surface and his finishing kick here may prove too much for this opposition. Recent 5f course winner Ok Pal will have his supporters, while Will He Wish represents excellent each-way value.

Mr Rigsby landed his first two races on this track over 6f and 7f, but was bitterly disappointing on his handicap debut over 7f last month. Jimmy The Guesser landed his maiden over this C&D before running well back in nursery company last time. He will go close, but may have to play second fiddle to ORCHARD SUPREME. A winner over 7f at Catterick, he has been just touched off in both races to date on the all-weather and can go one better here.

The longest race on the card can go to the Gerard Butler-trained COMPTON BOLTER. Four of his 12 career wins have been gained on the all-weather and he was winning in Group 3 company on turf as recently as September. His class can see him home in front here. Cold Turkey is always to be feared and arrives fresh on the back of a debut success over hurdles recently, while The Violin Player is the pick of the remainder.

WESTERN ROOTS has really hit top form in recent weeks and can complete a fine hat-trick over this C&D. He defied a 7lb rise earlier this month and can overcome another penalty this afternoon. Jakarmi represents excellent each-way value, but a bigger threat looms in the guise of Bijou Dan. Successful over this trip as a three-year-old, he looked back to his best when scoring over C&D last month and will not go down here without a fight.

Barking Mad was an effortless winner over hurdles at Plumpton in October and his best Flat form will elevate him into contention. Blue Patrick is capable of mounting a decent challenge but the vote goes to SEATTLE ROBBER. A winner over this trip on turf at Musselburgh back in the summer, he can mark his return to the all-weather with a first victory on an artificial surface with Fergal Lynch, who was in the saddle at Musselburgh, back in the plate.

This closing contest looks well within the range of HARD TO EXPLAIN. His yard have had an excellent 2005 with their juveniles, and after two solid efforts on turf in the autumn, he can make a winning debut on the all-weather. Island Myth looks to be on an upward curve and could make a race of it, while Ed Dunlop's Questive is certainly a newcomer to note in the market.
