PETIT FILOUS showed improvement from his debut at Doncaster when third at Chelmsford last Thursday and that form should prove more than good enough in what looks a below par contest. Allegheny Bay is related to some sprinting types and has to enter calculations making his debut, while Deliberator and Trautmann are other newcomers worth a market check.

RED GUNNER built upon his debut effort at Doncaster when landing a maiden over C&D last month where he improved for the extra furlong and an opening handicap mark of 79 is more than fair for the son of Oasis Dream. Dr Julius No hasn't been out since winning his maiden at Leicester back in May and shaped on that occasion as though 7f wouldn't pose any issues, while Letmestopyouthere has solid handicap form to his name and is respected stepping up in trip.

SECOND THOUGHT showed a fair amount of ability on his debut when runner-up on debut at Salisbury behind Repton back in May when slowly away before running on strongly inside the final furlong which suggested that the extra furlong here could potentially bring about further improvement. Newcomers School Run and Highly Focussed are both of interest with the former a 100,000-euro purchase at the Goffs Sale last September and the latter having an eye-catching jockey booking in Luke Morris.

DOUGAN has been in excellent form over the last couple of months and, despite running off a career high mark, still looks capable of landing another handicap of this nature. Gentlemen bounced back to form with a good third at Kempton last month having been freshened up and is open to progression again over the winter months, while Distant Past and Upavon both showed improved form last time out and have to be considered.

FANCI THAT ran respectably on his handicap debut at Kempton when third behind Ask The Guru and looks one of the only runners in the field capable of finding improvement. Secret Bird was raised 3lb for a win at Chelmsford last month and has to enter calculations again with Lulu Stanford reunited in the saddle, while Willow Spring should have benefited from a small break having ran below par when last seen.

HARPERS RUBY lost little in defeat when second over track and trip last time and, from a good draw, Lynn Siddall's six-year-old is expected to go well again following a 1lb rise. Whispering Soul drops back from 6f and is only 3lb higher than when landing a selling handicap on turf at Hamilton in the summer. Another worthy of shortlist inclusion is Kodimoor, who was touched off by a head at Catterick latest and is still fairly treated now running off 2lb higher on his second start on Tapeta.

Stuart Williams inmate MONNA VALLEY is only 3lb higher than when scoring over 1m2f at Lingfield in August and advertised his well-being when landing minor off this mark over this trip at Chelmsford City last time out. It may be that he can find some immediate improvement now stepped up in trip. If he fails to get home, recent Newcastle second Canford Thompson could be the one to pick up the pieces. Filament Of Gold is only 1lb higher than his last winning mark and could also take a hand.

RUSSIAN RANGER romped home with over four lengths in hand at the line over the extended mile here last month and is expected to remain competitive, following a 7lb rise, now granted this additional furlong. Scribner Creek benefited from the step up from 7f when striking on his handicap debut here latest and is unexposed over this longer trip, while the returning Mr Globetrotter is worth a market check now eased in grade on his debut for a shrewd stable.
