La Belle Argentee was picked up for 30,000 euros as a yearling and Dan Skelton's filly ought to have a future in this sphere. The market should be a useful indicator, but LIVINGONAPRAYER receives a tentative vote. Jamie Snowden has a healthy strike-rate with his hurdlers this season and the daughter of Dartmouth, whose dam won over this trip, looks capable of going close. Madame Luna won on her debut at Fakenham, but will need more under a penalty.
Wade Out struggled in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last month but Olly Murphy's charge sets the standard dropping in class and looks set to go close. However, preference is for IRA HAYES. The son of Mahler bolted up on his hurdling bow at Carlisle in November and, given that he has been far from dismissed in the ante-post market for the Albert Bartlett, he might be too strong. Rule Me In is noted too.
MICKS JET had no problem with a step up to 3m when filling the runner-up spot at Bangor recently and, while Philip Kirby's charge has scope for further progress, a 4lb rise for that effort is unlikely to be too much of an issue. De Legislator was sent off favourite on his return from a 702-day absence last month and could step forward from that lacklustre display. Art Of Diplomacy is another to consider.
KONFUSION saw his winning chance slip away when sprawling on landing at the second last on his chasing debut at Sedgefield in October, but he could take a big step forward. He was kindly dropped 2lb for that effort and could be the one to beat. Golden De Coeur finished third at Southwell last time and could get closer off the same mark, while Tom Creen is another to note.
BOWLING BUDDY arguably produced a career best when second in this class over an extended 2m3f here last time. The seven-year-old only has a 2lb higher mark to contend with and this step up in trip could unlock the improvement required. Off The Jury finished a close-up third at Wincanton last month and has since undergone a wind operation, so he has to be considered. Shared is next best.
A wind procedure in January worked just the treat for recent Ffos Las scorer SHADY B and there looks to be more to come. The Saint Des Saints gelding recorded a career-best performance on that occasion and an 8lb higher mark might not be enough to anchor him. Carlisle runner-up Gibberwell isn't sure to enjoy this flatter track, so course runner-up Time Was may give the selection most to think about.
Rockola Vogue lost little in defeat when finding only a progressive Dan Skelton-trained mare too strong here in November and she must enter calculations on her handicap bow. However, HARD AS NAILS was denied by a subsequent winner on her latest outing at Newcastle and a 1lb rise in the ratings may prove inconsequential. Our Bill's Aunt and Lady In The Park are others to note.
