Verdict
CLASSIC ENCOUNTER has been plying his trade at a higher level so far this season and can benefit from a drop in class on this occasion. A 1lb ease in the handicap for the five-year-old's most recent Newmarket performance can only aid his cause and a third career victory may beckon. Although Desert Shadow has been underwhelming in two outings this year, he might prove dangerous if a first-time visor helps sharpen him up. Andesite is the pick of the remainder.
Expert View Verdict
It is rare to find a race where arguably none of the runners ran to form last time but that is the case here. NYMAN had been going pretty consistently before being well beaten in a big field last time and is fancied to return to better in this much weaker contest. Classic Encounter has been below his 2025 form but at least has run to the same level both starts this term. He'll need to do better to win this but there's a good chance he will do that. Andesite is also quite interesting given a tongue-tie after running quite well upped to 7f last time and up again in trip.
