Expert Analysis

Little of this could be seen due to dense fog, though the overall time (unimpressive for the grade) and late sectionals suggest the pace was steady, and the field was closely grouped until fairly late on. The winner’s final 4f of 57.32s on good to soft ground is equal to a 103.4% finishing speed.

NIETZSCHE HAS (h140+ here, 151 previously) won with authority without needing to be all that near to his smart French form, tracking the pace before leading between the last 2 and forging clear. He is better than any juvenile seen to date in Britain/Ireland but reportedly won’t be seen again as he is off to stud, a second in the Group 1 Prix de Cambaceres just about the pick of several good efforts in his native country.

MARCHE D’ALIGRE (h124 here, 113 previously) improved plenty on the form of his win at Wetherby (maiden winner on the flat in France before that) but was put in his place late on having raced prominently and led for some of the closing stages.

TORRENT (h121 here and previously) is proving most consistent and matched his previous best having been held up initially.

HOT FUSS (h122 here, 125 previously) was close to his previous form and should not have done much harm to what was a workable BHA mark of 123 going in.

STATIC (h111 here, 129 previously)

MELON (h105 here, 122 previously)

OPEC (h101 here, 129 previously) was disappointing given her fairly useful win at Newbury but did lead/dispute much of the way, weakening when making a mistake at the last.

MY NOBLE LORD (h102 here, 123 previously)

MISTER CESSNA (h0 here, ? previously)
