Expert Analysis
A decent turnout numerically but not obviously in terms of quality, and a fairly close finish between the first 3 and an unexceptional time suggests this form is useful at best. The runners split into 2 groups until past halfway, Swift Winds leading Venetian Lace and Rose Ghaiyyath nearer to the stand side before they merged again. It was run at quite a strong pace for the conditions (good to soft going and with a headwind), the winner’s final 2f of 25.37s (98.3% finishing speed) slower than par.
AYLIN (101 here, 99 previously) proved well suited by the increase in test of stamina, needing nearly all of the trip to get in front having been held up then off the bridle soon after halfway, responding well to strong pressure. She is useful but may well need to be better than that at this level and higher in future.
PACIFIC MISSION (99+ here, 85 previously) may be the best prospect in the race, lacking some experience but looking as if she would win when produced to lead just after 2f out (went as short as 2-1 on in running), run down late on by one played even later than she was.
SUGAR ISLAND (98 here, 92 previously) ran her best race yet, never far away but one paced late on.
ROSE GHAIYYATH (94+ here, ? previously) was away from the main action and got some way back before making late gains, likely to improve again (won newcomers race at Deauville only previous appearance).
TIMEFORSHOWCASING (94 here and previously) was a narrow leader for a long way and ran at least as well as previously.
VENETIAN LACE (90 here, 98 previously)
MOON TARGET (88 here, 104 previously) found disappointingly little after having every chance 2f out, some way below form. The Goodwood race she was 2nd in the time before (and in which Aylin was 3rd) is working out otherwise.
