Expert Analysis
An unevenly run bumper, slow early, fast middle and quite slow again late on, which led to a modest overall time and ordinary finishing speed (100.3%) for the grade. Nonetheless, it is reasonable to think that the bare form is up to scratch, with Fun Fun Fun winning well from the mare who had been successful in this 12 months before, her rating towards the upper end of the usual scale.
FUN FUN FUN (f134 here, 128 previously) put up one of the better performances in a largely unexceptional season so far for bumper horses, held up and a bit free initially with the pace slow, making smooth headway to lead just after 2f out and forging clear for quite vigorous riding. She would get an allowance at Cheltenham and has a decent chance of at least placing there.
LILY DU BERLAIS (f124 here, 127 previously) had won this 12 months before and probably ran to a similar level in defeat this year, held up, pushed along over 3f out and staying on, never nearer in terms of position.
ROCKSTOWN GIRL (f121 here, 116 previously) ran just about her best race, leading early and remaining prominent before going on again briefly 2f out, edging right under pressure and caught for second close home.
FANCY GIRL (f118 here, 115 previously) probably improved a little on her winning Cork form though looking a staying type in the process.
BOP BOP BOBBIN (f109 here, 107 previously)
MOLLYS MANGO (f0 here, 119 previously)
MARIE PHILIPPE (f0 here, 104 previously)
