Verdict

BIG PAUL was dropped into too high a grade last time, especially as it was his first start outside of maiden company, but he would be dangerous to discount at this more realistic level. Giggy Smooth was very impressive when breaking his maiden tag in October and a gelding operation may bring about some progression, while Guyana Cat is also noted.

Verdict

Taken By Surprise won a similar contest here last month and another good showing looks to be on the cards. That said, B THREE was only beaten a length in a $100,000 stakes event at Christmas and she is open to more progression as this is just her fourth career start. Storm Cell can complete the placings.
