The mud-loving KID COMMANDO was an impressive hurdles winner when reappearing on this card 12 months ago and, though he never kicked on from that, it would be no surprise to see him make a big impression on his chasing debut following post-season wind surgery. Similar surgery may also see Solo in a better light as he switches to the larger obstacles, but a bigger threat may emerge from fellow chasing debutant Nassalam, if he can recapture the sparkle he showed in first half of last season which saw him touted as a serious Triumph Hurdle contender.

Soaring Glory, fourth in last season's Supreme Novices' Hurdle, sets a good standard but looks vulnerable under a big weight and preference is for the unexposed BOOTHILL. Having landed a Kempton bumper in fetching fashion, Harry Fry's gelding was hugely impressive when easily beating some subsequent winners on his only previous hurdles start at Taunton last winter and his opening handicap mark looks there to be exploited. Megan was still travelling well until falling in a recent Chepstow race won by Progressive, who should also remain competitive despite a 5lb rise.

Sully D'Oc Aa and Editeur Du Gite finished first and second respectively in a novice event on this card 12 months ago and both looked primed to go well on their respective returns having signed off last season in progressive form. For all that, the unexposed ONE FOR ROSIE has gone best fresh in the past and top-weight may not be enough to anchor him on his handicap chase debut following two impressive novice wins last term when jumping boldly. Amoola Gold is a C&D winner who obliged first time out last year and also commands respect despite the handicapper appearing to catch up with him last back-end.

VINNDICATION just wasn't the same horse when switching to hurdles at the end of last season, lacking fluency in his jumping and looking in desperate need of a return to the larger obstacles. The Kim Bailey-trained gelding is given the opportunity to showcase himself over fences on his return, in a race he landed in dominant style back in 2019, and the eight-year-old makes plenty of appeal. One More Fleurie progressed rapidly through the grades earlier this year and may still have more to offer, while Johnbb remains unexposed and is also worthy of respect.

An intriguing contest featuring a number of promising types and the Gary Moore-trained SHALLWEHAVEONEMORE immediately catches the eye, having impressed when landing a bumper on his debut at Kempton in March. The four-year-old can make the perfect start over hurdles and get the better of fellow hurdling debutant Peking Rose, who produced an excellent effort when runner-up in a Grade Two bumper at Aintree in April. Super Six dead-heated with a useful prospect at Perth on his first outing over hurdles last month and can also get involved.

16:30 Ascot (Class 4) (3YO plus)

GRANGECLARE GLORY put in a stellar display of jumping on seasonal reappearance to break his duck at the fifth time of asking. There may be further improvement to come from the six-year-old and he gets the nod to land the spoils off 3lb higher. Josie Abbing was just denied when hampered by a faller at the last on her latest outing and she rates the most immediate danger, while Go Chique ended her campaign with a decisive victory and she's worth noting after a break.

Andreas Wohler boasts a tremendous record with runners in Britain and the German trainer may be able to bolster that tally with ESTACAS today. The son of Galileo is a half-brother to Group 1 winner Earl Of Tinsdal and he can get off the mark with the in-form Jamie Moore in the saddle. If he fails to fire, Chianti Classico can pick up the pieces after beating a subsequent winner on his sole start in a point-to-point. Holetown Hero is another to consider.
