PALISADE makes his handicap debut here after showing some promise in his three maiden starts and looks to have the scope to improve plenty now upped in distance. The son of Fastnet Rock is a half-brother to Group race performer Windshear who improved when stepping up in trip as a three-year-old. Golden Isles is another who could improve plenty on her handicap debut under Josephine Gordon, who is in flying form at the moment and well worth her 5lb claim, while Schoolboy Error won at Chelmsford last month and shouldn't be inconvenienced by a 4lb raise.

BEAUSANT returned with a solid effort at Newbury and, providing he handles the quicker ground he encounters here, he should take all the beating this afternoon. Clovelly Bay would hold solid claims on the pick of his form, while Dizzey Heights has been consistent and should run her usual solid race despite slight concerns about the ground.

MAHFOOZ improved on his opening effort on desperate ground at Doncaster when runner-up to subsequent Dante winner Wings Of Desire and the son of Teofilo is fancied to get off the mark at the third attempt. Girling brings some of the better form to the table having finished second on both her starts, while Celestra could well improve for tackling fast ground on her turf debut.

Some doubts persist over BLENHEIM WARRIOR after he pulled furiously on his handicap debut last time. The pace appeared to be too steady for him and despite missing the start, he managed to stay on well enough to finish third. Andrea Atzeni takes over this time, and with the benefit of that run, more is expected of Richard Hughes' charge. Chances are also given to Sharjah and the bottom-weight Favorite Girl.

Andrew Slattery makes the long journey over from Ireland with ALERT here. He has slipped down to a mark of 59 and with champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa booked, a bold show can be expected. Celestial Dancer probably ran her best ever race last time out, while Captain George has been in good form at Wolverhampton and merits consideration.

Awesome Allan ran well, considering his wide draw, in the Lily Agnes at Chester a couple of weeks and he is the obvious standard setter in this contest. That said, The Nazca Lines has shown ability in both of his starts to date. BATTAASH cost 200,00gns as a yearling and he is closely related to the Group 2 winner Etlaala, so could be worth siding with on his debut. Leontes is another newcomer to note and he cost connections 33,000gns as a yearling.

Zeeoneandonly shoulders a 6lb penalty for her win at Salisbury last week but this in-form filly should give another good account of herself. BELLEDESERT was a course and distance winner on her penultimate start and she ran well when fourth here, on much softer ground, last month. The return to a quicker surface should suit and she makes the most appeal today. Annie Salts and Prisom looks the pick of the remainder.

SWIRRAL EDGE has to defy top weight but she was not beaten far in a decent race on her seasonal debut at Doncaster last month. She tired late on that day and the drop in trip as well, as better ground today, should help her. Inclination is an interesting handicap debutant, having shown ability in all three starts in maidens, and she is another who should be suited by this quicker surface. Evening Starlight can also go well.
