Too Much To Ask showed excellent resolution to score here on Monday but he looked to have a hard race and, under his penalty, he is passed over in favour of ROXBORO ROAD. Ben Haslam's eight-year-old went really close to completing a four-timer at Perth, and reverting from the larger obstacles can help him resume winning ways. Rubytwo also occupied the runner-up berth last time, while Tico Times and Aptly Put were honest fourths in different races here at the start of the week.

Former smart Flat handicapper ALQAMAR spent a long time on the sidelines, but he showed that he retains much of his talent when second on his hurdling bow at Carlisle. He then went one better with the minimum of fuss at Ayr and looks another likely Cartmel winner for the Moffatt/Jones combination. Blueberry Wine has shown some ability in a couple of Chepstow events, while Darkest Day has plenty of experience to call upon. Fever Roque and Treasured Company have had just one timber outing each, but are worth some thought.

TRESHNISH would have completed a Hexham three-timer were it not for a last-fence fall in between two determined victories. He is worth sticking with until beaten and is preferred to Rooster Cogburn, who had to settle for a distant second when attempting to supplement a Market Rasen triumph at Huntingdon. Tonto's Spirit justified favouritism here on Monday so is an obvious contender if turned out again, and Sword Of Fate knows what it takes to win at this venue too.

BANNIXTOWN GLORY has a touch of class about her and registered her second Listed victory over the smaller obstacles at the chief expense of former Festival heroine Eglantine Du Seuil at Cheltenham. The winner has herself struck over fences since, and Donald McCain's mare can follow suit at the first attempt. Getareason showed his appreciation for the return to chasing when victorious at Hexham and is the one most likely to capitalise should the selection falter. Sussex Road will pick up a minimum of just over 800 pounds if he completes.

LOOKING WELL has been contesting much better affairs than this and the Nicky Richards-trained son of Gold Well is taken to record his first victory since February 2019. Reikers Island is an intriguing candidate after running creditably over hurdles last time out and has to be respected after being highly tried over fences. Dressedforsuccess struck here on Monday and is a contender again if reappearing.

Pepper Street built on a victory on her hurdling return last month when following up latest and has to be respected on her hat-trick bid, but a mark of this nature has proved too tough to overcome for the six-year-old in the past and a chance is taken on top-weight THE HERDS GARDEN now dropping into selling company. Sitting 3lb below his last winning rating, the Donald McCain-trained gelding appears to be on an appealing mark and, with the added bonus of Brian Hughes returning to the saddle, gets the vote to land the spoils. C&D winner Xpo Universel completes the shortlist.

FRIGHTENED RABBIT has placed on three of his last five outings and the nine-year-old gets the vote to record his second victory over C&D off a mark just 1lb higher than his last win. The gelding is marginally preferred to Calliope, who was denied from recording a sixth career success by an improving mare last time out, while Genever Dragon receives a handy 5lb allowance and warrants respect after the handicapper has continued to loosen his grip on the son of Dragon Pulse.
