ZAMOND makes most appeal of the recent winners after scoring with plenty in hand over C&D last month. Harry Brown's allowance negates a hike in the weights and Donald McCain's 10-year-old is taken to make another bold bid. Alvesta also won here last time and can confirm superiority over the runner-up Mr Lincoln. Mi Sueno is another to consider, despite carrying a penalty for winning at Stratford earlier in the week.
The James Moffatt yard has an excellent record at this venue and holds a strong hand here. Recent C&D winner Alvesta is likely to prove popular up 4lb as she remains well treated on her old form but the softer ground may not be ideal. She may struggle to confirm form with Mr Lincoln who is proven on varying ground and has returned to form in both codes recently. However MASEKELA is preferred to that pair starting out in handicaps off a potentially lenient mark. She was very useful at her best on the Flat and has improved on each hurdles run so far showing a liking for this venue. Mi Sueno arrives in flying form and isn't dismissed either but he's another who may struggle if the rain arrives.

GAMBINO won easily over C&D last month to open his account over hurdles at only the second time of asking. Dan Skelton's charge should have plenty more to offer in this sphere and is taken to defy a penalty. Whermyrosemarygoes made a winning stable/hurdling debut when successful at Uttoxeter. She rates the main threat with Harry Cobden keeping the partnership intact, while Hawthorn Road is a likely improver.
This looks a match race between the last time out winners GAMBINO and Whermyrosemarygoes. The former just edges it as his debut placed effort has worked out well and he has shown some high quality form on the Flat so his greater speed may prove the difference. The latter placed in 3m points and was given a fine ride when successful first time out over hurdles making good use of her stamina. She will likely try and make this a stiff test and the forecast rain may help. Hawthorn Road was poorly placed to challenge but showed improved form last time and may do best of the rest.

Decent ground should suit Dan Skelton's EDELAK admirably and with the four-year-old winning four of his last five starts (falling in the other), he may be able to shrug off an added 6lb if he continues to improve. Drombeg Lad wasn't beaten far when second at Uttoxeter, despite pulling too hard, and if he settles he could be a danger to all. Virtual Rock is rated 100 on the Flat and has to be of interest on only his third start over hurdles.
Edelak has been successful on his last 4 completed starts and though those races fell apart he still looks ahead of his mark despite a further 6lb rise. He showed useful form on the Flat on easier ground so the forecast rain won't be an issue and he holds solid claims. However the rain is also likely to help VIRTUAL ROCK who was a Listed winner on the Flat in France and won on his second start over hurdles. He is yet to prove he retains that ability following a huge lay off but he arrives fit from the Flat and is potentially thrown in off this mark. The owners are no stranger to landing a punt and it is notable that Sean Bowen is booked so any market support would be significant. Medieval Gold is a soft ground winner who has proven consistent and may be able to gain the final place.

Tanking Along has finished second on his last two starts, at Kelso and Perth, and may have to settle for the same position if PASSING DIAMOND remains at his peak. Decent enough over hurdles, he made his chasing debut over C&D last month, where he jumped well and made all to come home almost five lengths clear. Although upped 6lb, he can only learn from the experience. Kientzheim is another to consider if she can produce her hurdling form over fences.
PASSING DIAMOND impressed with his jumping when making a winning chase debut over C&D and is picked to defy a 10lb rise. He faces little competition for the lead and if getting into a rhythm he can defeat consistent veteran Lermoos Legend who will appreciate the drop back in distance. Kientzheim is yet to take to chasing and likely wants further in time but she will be ridden to pick up the pieces behind her stablemate so could fill the podium.

Judicial Review is looking for a hat-trick in this race, but he has a new jockey this season in 7lb claimer Leah Noreci and he hasn't won again in the past 12 months. Danny McMenamin was on board for both victories and switches to Scoro, who is interesting in a first-time tongue-tie and cheekpieces, but KINBARA FIRSTDRAFT get the vote. Dropped in class for his second start following wind surgery and down a stone in the handicap, he could surprise them all.
PATH OF STARS gained her sole hurdles victory at this venue and shaped well when midfield here on chase debut under an overly negative ride. She is picked to build on that and reverse form with the progressive Aill Dubh on these revised terms. His re-opposing rival is a strong stayer so will try and make this a decent test but he faces plenty of competition for the lead here. Unreliable veteran Illogical Logic drops in distance and would certainly appreciate a decent test. He returned to form last time and has to be of interest again off a much reduced mark.
