Airgead Suas looks to be improving all the time and warrants respect, but she appeared a shade fortunate to win at Exeter latest (left clear two out) and has a 6lb rise to deal with, so it may pay to side with last year's winner MAISON D'OR. Micky Hammond's six-year-old made a pleasing return when second off this rating at Musselburgh last month and that should put him spot on for a bold bid here. All Hail Caesar, a winner of a 'jumpers' bumper' in February, disappointed at Carlisle last month, but a step up in trip and the application of first-time cheekpieces could bring about an improved display.

This looks a great opportunity for MAGNA MORALIA, who has struck the crossbar in both hurdle starts to date as well as finishing a close-up third on the Flat at Redcar last time. Genever Dragon beat the selection at Sedgefield in late September, but was a little disappointing when a place behind Gold Desert at the same venue 15 days ago and it is Oliver Greenall's charge who is feared most today. Any market support for Ring Of Gold could also be worth noting.

ARMATTIEKAN backed up his Musselburgh romp with a solid placed effort at Sedgefield and, despite a further 4lb rise in the ratings, he is very much the one to beat. Dido put his hands up and surrendered over 2m7f at Taunton last time but could return to form dropping back in trip off a 2lb lower mark, while Diamond Rock is no forlorn hope off 2lb lower than when runner-up at Hexham in early September.

It is interesting that Nicky Henderson heads north with BIRCHDALE, who was only seen twice in an interrupted 2019/20 campaign but before that looked every inch a chaser in the making when impressing in the novice hurdle ranks. The point winner is likely to be far too good for his rivals here and should get off the mark over the larger obstacles. Snookered and Informateur can fight it out for the silver medal.

Micky Hammond saddles four here and looks to have a strong hand with his Sedgefield scorer Stormin Norman and his recruit from France, Penpal, who was a winner at Pau in May. Let Me Be, twice a winner in bumpers, has been kept busy on the Flat of late and is sure to arrive fighting fit, while Against All Odds has caught the eye in bumpers and a move up in trip on her hurdles debut should suit. However, preference is for Rebecca Menzies' SHE'S A DANCER, who took a huge step forward from her fifth on reappearance when getting off the mark over a similar distance at Sedgefield last month. The five-year-old was still extremely green at stages during that victory and there looks to be plenty of untapped potential still to be seen.

RED GIANT returned to winning ways in impression fashion at Sedgefield last month and a 7lb rise may not be enough to stop him from taking this contest as well if he arrives here in the same form. Ask Paddy has won his last four starts and could prove to be a big threat to the selection, despite the 269-day layoff. The shortlist is completed by Brian Boranha and Lough Derg Jewel.

Flammarion has to be respected having made a winning debut at Ayr late last month but the 7lb penalty he has to carry for that victory could make him vulnerable today. With that in mind, preference is for THE BOMBER LISTON, who was a beaten favourite on his first outing at Ffos Las last month but that was a promising effort and he is entitled to improve. Any market support for Gentleman Valley, Gregor or Killane would have to be noted.
