MUHADATHAT has yet to run a bad race in four visits to the racecourse and, to her advantage, showed an ability to handle this tight track when runner-up over C&D two starts ago. She is fancied to see off Strands Of Silk, who made a big impression when winning on her introduction at Doncaster and has been set stiff assignments since. Willsy and handicap debutant El Astronaute look set to scrap it out for third place.

Invoke is in a rich vein of form at the moment and demands respect, but ONLY JOKING shades the verdict in receipt of 8lb. Win and placed efforts on the all-weather at Lingfield this year show that she has improved from two to three and there should be a lot more to come from Hugo Palmer's progressive filly. Richard Fahey has two solid chances with Imshivalla and Signoret, and Trixie Malone cannot be ruled out either.

BALLYMORE CASTLE gets a tentative vote in a fiercely competitive handicap. Richard Fahey's charge doesn't know how to run a bad race and he won on his only previous visit to Chester as a juvenile. Gerry The Glover was a comfortable two-length winner at Newcastle and warrants plenty of respect, despite being drawn widest of all. Character Onesie must also come into the reckoning following last week's cosy C&D success.

PALAWAN was a cracking fourth in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot two starts ago and made no mistake when dropped into maiden company at Salisbury subsequently. He is best treated at these weights with a top rating of 91 and will prove tough to beat. His biggest threat might be stablemate Spongy, who lost little in defeat when a short-head second at Newmarket last week, but Gerrard's Quest and Welford are certainly no mugs.

Everything points to a massive run from CYMRO, who caused a shock result when beating Sir Isaac Newton over this C&D three starts ago. He posted a career-best effort when winning a Haydock handicap last time, and has the best of the draw in box one. Racing History readily won his maiden at Haydock in May and could potentially be well treated off this opening mark of 91, while Arcano Gold shouldn't be too far away either.

BELLAJEU ended last season with a nose defeat in a Newbury maiden and showed she has trained on when runner-up in the Lingfield Oaks Trial on her return to action in May. She can easily be forgiven a lacklustre performance in the Oaks itself and should prove a cut above these rivals. Barry Hills' well-bred newcomer Tedhkaar rates the biggest threat ahead of the twice-raced Yet Again.

DISTAIN stepped up on her promising Ascot introduction when scoring readily at Redcar and, likely to improve again for this extra three furlongs, she gets the vote to follow up on her handicap debut. Moruadh has improved between her three starts and won well at Leicester last month. An opening mark of 77 might be underestimating her ability, while Chadic and Akavit have already proven themselves on a number of occasions.
