A tricky start to proceedings and the safest option may be to side with DUMBARTON, who had the reopposing Smithfield (third), Enchanted Forest (fifth) and Turtle Mist (19th) in arrears when filling the runner-up spot over 2m at Gowran earlier this month. He wouldn't have to find much in order to go one better today, although he could face stiff competition from Gentleman Duke, who went close over that same C&D when last seen in March. Urmat D'oudairies is interesting on his debut for Charles Byrnes having shown ability in France.

HARD TO SWALLOW sets the standard and could take some beating. The point-to-point and bumper winner twice fared well in hot company over timber at Cheltenham in January before being thrown in at the deep end in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle when last seen in March, but this represents a much more realistic task and he can gain a deserved first success over obstacles. North Star Lad and Love Rory both landed their maidens in fine style latest but will need to step up to deny the selection, so the biggest dangers may be Lean Times and Dreaming On.

COURTNCATCHER has done his current mark no favours in defeat in recent times, but Davy Russell takes over in the plate for this assignment and it would come as no surprise if he was ridden prominently dropping back in trip. There is clearly a big run up his sleeve and he arrives in good nick, but Last Time D'albain is partnered with Ruby Walsh now switching back to timber, so he's shortlisted along with the returning Shariyan.

COLLS CORNER reverts to fences off a 9lb higher mark and Michael Barry's charge makes most appeal having scored with plenty in hand at Listowel in this sphere two starts ago. Forgiven his moderate effort over timber at Tipperary the last day, he remains well treated and Instant Impacked has subsequently franked that form at Tramore. Echo Bob finished third in the Grade 3 Red Rum Handicap Chase at Aintree when last sighted over fences, so he's another that warrants close consideration along with bottom weight and C&D winner Pires.

If MOON DICE's confidence hasn't been completely dented following consecutive falls at Roscommon over hurdles and Gowran Park most recently on his chasing debut, last year's Galway Hurdle victor should take all the beating. Rated 145 over timber, he very much sets the standard and it could be significant that Robbie Power takes over in the plate for this assignment. Tofino Bay is feared most having scored in style on his chasing debut at Navan last month and there should be more to come from the lightly-raced nine-year-old. Ballyadam Brook makes most appeal of the remainder.

The form of GALIANNA's comfortable Listowel success has been boosted with the runner-up winning since and, with dropping back half-a-mile in trip not a concern, she gets the vote to defy an 8lb rise. Credit Box is usual a sound jumper and should give a good account here providing a fall at Gowran Park hasn't dented her confidence, while Beckwith Star and Prince Of Dubai are others to note.

Gordon Elliott looks to have his string in excellent shape at present and it would be no surprise to see TORN ASUNDER add to the handler's recent tally. A 3m point-to-point winner earlier in the year, he showed a great deal of promise when fourth at Fairyhouse on his second bumper outing in April and should have enough ability to win here before his attentions are turned to jumping. Calibre Style has a similar profile and merits a great deal of respect on her seasonal bow, while the race-fit Dushybeag was a close third to Seafood at Clonmel in September and cannot be ruled out if building on that form.
