ROARING POTTER might enjoy this smaller field and tight track more than the big fields he has been running in. It is worth noting that he was runner-up to Grangee in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last winter. His trainer Gordon Elliott has an excellent record at this venue. He holds a race fitness advantage on She Is A Contender, but she can certainly live up to her name. John McConnell has regularly supplied winners at Downpatrick in recent times and this six-year-old mare was runner-up in two hurdle races when last seen in October and November. Whisper In Court handled this track when runner-up in a hunters' chase last month and looks best of the rest.

DOWNTOWN QUEEN has been disappointing since finishing runner-up in a mares' maiden hurdle at Clonmel in October, however, a break and a visit to this unique venue might spark an improvement. There is no doubt that Henry de Bromhead's charge has ability. Gordon Elliott's Superlike makes his jumping debut after an unplaced run at Dundalk for Kevin Prendergast. He is sure to be well schooled and the market will be informative. Rodney Bay (with a mark of 112) and Bella Bliss are capable of landing a blow.

A good race featuring a clash between three recent winners. HURRICANE GEORGIE exploited a much lower hurdle rating compared to her chase mark when comfortably landing a mares' maiden hurdle at Wexford. She should have more to offer in this sphere and Corey McGivern takes 7lb off her back. She won a beginners' chase at this track and has has been runner-up in a maiden hurdle here. Queen Jane won over course and distance in May and that was a marked improvement on her two previous outings. There should be more to come from her. Frazel Express is a Tramore specialist and won there for the third time at the start of the month. That is a similar undulating track to Downpatrick, so she can go well. 7lb-claimer Kieran Callaghan, who has been among the winners for Willie Mullins, has been enlisted.

This is a drop in class for BRITZKA that he should take advantage of. For the most part, he has been mixing in Graded company since Christmas after winning his maiden hurdle by six lengths in Fairyhouse. He hasn't cut much ice in his last two starts, however, they were in Grade 3 and Grade 2 company. This should give him a confidence boost. Very Excellent was in winning form when last seen on the Flat at Dundalk in March. The Casamento gelding took the honours in a Bellewstown maiden hurdle by eight and a half lengths a couple of summers ago and that victory came off a break. Mr Moondance has been off since September, but did won on his last visit to this venue. He enjoys Downpatrick. Dollar Value also knows what is required to win here.

Gordon Elliott's THE ABBEY has claims in a competitive heat. He won over further in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last month and a couple of winners have already come out of that race. His stamina will be a help in a race where many have chances. Henry de Bromhead and Conor McNamara teamed up to winning effect with Frontline Worker in a Punchestown maiden hurdle. The Presenting mare did it very well on seasonal reappearance when obliging by three and a quarter lengths. She will enjoy this better ground. Similar sentiments about the ground apply to The Abbey's stablemate, Lieutenant Highway, who won a Clonmel maiden hurdle. He is a big threat now he has got his head in front. Churchtown Ruby won her maiden hurdle in Tramore last weekend which bodes well for this assignment. Minella Youngy isn't out of it.

Curragh trainer Aidan Howard must be delighted with how well his horses are running but equally frustrated that a lot of his charges have been hitting the crossbar. THEFAITHFULINDIAN, second in a big field at Punchestown last month, falls into that category but that was by far the best form shown in this sphere by the three-time Flat winner and she can go one better off a 3lb higher mark. Drumbaragh was a very easy winner at a big price at Down Royal last month and now faces a stiffer task having been raised 13lb. For one of her age, she hasn't many miles on the clock and there might be more improvement in her. Kinnegad Lad had useful bumper form and was third in a Limerick handicap last summer. He had been off four months before his first run for Gordon Elliott at the same venue where he shaped as if this shorter trip might be more suitable.

WALK IN THE BRISE has been beaten no more than a length and a quarter in any of her three starts in bumpers and can get her turn. Narrowly beaten on debut when odds-on at Gowran, the grey was second over 2m4f next time before again finding just one too good at Wexford last month. Saratoga Lass ran her best race so far for her owner/rider when third to a smart type at Punchestown. She was a long way behind the selection on winter ground at Gowran but it could be a lot closer on this sounder surface. Country Queen kept on nicely to finish fifth in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown where she finished only a couple of lengths behind the mare that beat the selection at Wexford. That gives her a chance and she's open to plenty of improvement.
