Pirate Chest looks the pick of Aidan O'Brien's pair and has been knocking on the door in turf maidens. If able to transfer that form onto polytrack, he is entitled to go close, but the slight suspicion is that he may need a greater stamina test so ONE UP ONE DOWN is the selection. Ger Lyons' gelding showed he was on the upgrade when third over course and distance last month and he can use the benefit of that experience to see off newcomer Campas Bay.
Pirate Chest possibly has his quirks (tends to carry his head high) but has been found a suitable opportunity to open his account. One Up One Down looks his biggest danger, whilst Last Crusade may hold off Balmont Mast for third.

ALEXANDER POPE opened his account at the third time of asking in a Leopardstown maiden in the summer, getting on top late on and giving the impression this extra furlong should suit. He is very much favoured by the way the weights are framed and should have enough in his locker to see off this field. Final Recovery and Bendzoldan have shown ability in handicaps and should fight out the minor honours, but both face a tough task to overhaul the selection on these terms.
It is impossible to oppose Alexander Pope here as he would be giving lumps of weight away if this was a handicap. Final Recovery and Bendzoldan may prove best of the rest.

The trailblazing Mac Tiernan would have ideally preferred a lower draw in order to attack from the front early and he is taken on. Kirsty's Boy opened his account for this yard at the track last month and will have no problems with this extra furlong. However, top-weight LIGHTENING STRICKS should be tough to beat. Richard Brabazon's colt has benefitted from the drop back to a mile recently and with the usual tongue tie fitted, he should go well from his inside draw.
Lightening Stricks was very impressive in a maiden here on Saturday and may be able to follow up in a race which should be run to suit. Mac Tiernan, Solid Air and Rambling Dancer all have place claims.

Boynagh Joy is an immense credit to connections and capped off a tremendous twelve months by landing a Listed race here in November. That victory means she has progressed a whopping 50lb in the weights in that time, but the handicapper may now have her measure and Banna Boirche is taken to score. Michael Halford's gelding had to patiently wait for racing room here last time but managed to grind down the leaders when it mattered and he can confirm placings with Dahindar over this longer trip.
A cracking contest for this time of the year and there is little to choose between the top 3 in the handicap, Banna Boirche, Boynagh Joy and Dahindar, all of whom go well around here and are in good heart at present. Narrow preference is for the first named, despite slight reservations about the trip, whilst High Importance shouldn't be ruled out with headgear reapplied.

Several of these runners clashed over course and distance recently with Mr Pianist and SPARRING PARTNER fighting out an entertaining finish. The latter failed to get up last time but was bumped in the final furlong and with a clearer run he may be able to gain compensation. Midnight Manhattan gets a nice weight swing with the aforementioned duo but he looks booked for a supporting role again. Ionisphere should run his usual race from the front but could prove a sitting duck up the home straight.
Sparring Partner should be able to turn around recent course form with Mr Pianist and is taken to prevail in a trappy contest. Ionisphere should give another good account and there may be more to come from the relatively unexposed Tara Tartan.

HAWA BALI remains unexposed over middle distances and on polytrack so even after an 8lb rise for his last time out success here, a follow up cannot be ruled out. King of Aran is another that usually runs his race here but he often finds one or two too good and handicap debutante Leaves You Baby looks the main danger. This extra furlong looks ideal given she only narrowly failed to grind down the winner when second here last time, whilst she continues to run well with cheekpieces.
Leaves You Baby was unlucky not to win here on Saturday and, with the promise of a more truly run race here, looks to have sound claims of making amends. King of Aran and Hawa Bali are solid each-way alternatives.

A moderate gallop did not help PIRES when third at Wolverhampton recently but Tony Martin's gelding can gain compensation with a more truly run race here. His third in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket in October underlined his class, and he can pass likely pacesetter Elusive Ridge to claim the prize. The latter would be dangerous if allowed an easy lead but a bigger danger looks to be Westtower Boy, who was progressing over middle distances prior to a disappointing showing here on Sunday.
Pires looks to have been found a good opportunity to finally gain his second success on the level. The form of his Cambridgeshire third gets him the nod over Bravely Thought and Elusive Ridge.
