David Dennis' horses are in fine fettle at the minute but his King's Song was disappointing at Leicester yesterday and might be best watched if lining up here. HILL FORT is preferred, as he has showed some positive signs on his first two starts for Matt Sheppard and makes just his second start in a 0-100 handicap. Poetic Presence seemed to improve for the fitting of a visor at Chepstow and Highridge Princess might have more to offer in handicap company.

A fascinating contest where Rouge Et Blanc and Mon Successeur reoppose following a pulsating battle at Newbury last week. It will be interesting to see whether the former can uphold that form on the same terms, but perhaps AL ALFA is worth a chance, as he has been freshened up after finishing third at Stratford and landed back-to-back victories prior to that. Otago Trail is in good nick and Quite By Chance is also respected for last year's winning trainer.

WOODFORD COUNTY was disappointing at Sedgefield on his reappearance, but did fall on his first start last term before winning at Newbury, and he looks feasibly treated now he's back on his last winning mark. His main target might be the Welsh National, though, and perhaps it is worth checking for any market support behind Auvergnat, who showed promise at Market Rasen and handled slower underfoot conditions in his native France. The penalised St Dominick might be worth consideration and the enigmatic Sybarite might be a joker in the pack now stepped up to a marathon trip.

MR MIX finished third in Listed company on debut in France and shaped as if he'd come on appreciably for the outing on his seasonal bow/first run for Paul Nicholls at Stratford in October. With the benefit of that blowout behind him, an improved showing could be on the cards. Grandmaster George and Vieux Lille are worth monitoring in the betting on the back of winning bumper performances, while Morthanalegend should be all the wiser for the experience gained on his hurdling debut at Taunton and could also figure.

There's no stopping NEVER SAYS NEVER at present and he could hardly have been more impressive when thrashing an in-form rival at Lingfield on Tuesday. Harry Cobden's claim negates his penalty and, provided this run doesn't come too quickly, he is expected to take plenty of beating now. Beat The Tide returns from a break but is an interesting recruit to handicaps, while Doctor Look Here and Badilou should also be in the mix.

A cracking little novice event can go the way of GOLDEN DOYEN. He was never able to land a blow behind a well-ridden winner in a tactical race at Sandown last time but, judged on last season's hurdles form, he remains an exciting prospect in this sphere and is fancied to take advantage of his hefty four-year-old allowance. Calipto has to concede weight all round but ran an excellent race behind Arkle hope Garde La Victoire at Cheltenham and isn't opposed lightly. Tea For Two is a fascinating recruit to chasing, and Oscar Sunset should be monitored in the betting on his return to action.

RENAISSANCE RED ran a good deal better than the bare result when third at Haydock on his racecourse introduction last month, showing obvious signs of greenness throughout. He will have learnt plenty from that experience and is taken to open his account at the second time of asking. Antonio Joli makes some appeal on paper and commands respect with Sam Twiston-Davies in the plate, while El Tiburon is the most interesting of the remainder.
